  1. Just got back from my 3rd trout adventure up in Quebec....the weather wasn't the greatest but it didn't stop the fish from biting...We slayed the Rainbow trout and caught our limit in less than 24hrs from arriving there last Friday, but we ate one and then did catch and release and then caught a 10th one before we left....the speckles were a little more difficult to catch compared to last month but we managed to keep 5 along with 3 Lakers. I got my hat trick with catching Rainbows, Specks and Lake trout....The Rainbow trout ranged from 2lbs to almost 6lbs. Look at the size of the Rainbows on the fish cleaning table

  3. This is two of the many teaser pictures sent to me of a custom reel that I'm having built that is nearing completion. Once in hand I'll be in high gear to get a matching custom built rod for it to fish this Fall's Steelhead season.

  5. Thanks Lew...yes it's been awesome for trout this year!! Cooler temps are coming so hopefully it will be a good fall for Muskie. I might squeeze one more late September trout outing if I can find someone to go up with me.

  7. When I was a lad of 16 my high scholl football coach Ray Mckerlie who owned Voyaguer Outfitters on Round Lake at Access #1 invited me and a few other players up to the Camp to open it up for the spring. It was beautiful up there and I couldn't wait to go on the school trip up there the following year. Every year high schools in our region would go up to Algonquin and take a 1 week trip through Voyaguer into either Manitou or Bigger Lake. For almost all of them it was their first introduction to the park and it has a lasting memory with all of them. When I started going up to the Park again after university My trip always seemed to coincide with one of the high schools and Ray would know that we were stupid enough to portage a keg of beer in. He would go for an evening paddle with a student he could trust and end up at our campsite to enjoy a cold beer and fill us in on his life and our alma mater. He was a great fellow who passed in 2000. I hope that high school kids in the KW area are still going on week long trips into the park and someone like Ray is there to introduce it to them
