  1. Not a fishing tale but a whole lot of fun for sure! Being new to hunting, it has opened a whole new world to me. Part of this is stewardship, not something I really understood, still don't in some cases however when it comes to the Cormorant population/problem, it really can't be ignored. As a fisherman I did notice their destruction yet never really paid attention to it but seeing it now through a hunters eyes, man, yes this is something I can get behind. There is literally 10's of thousands of them (maybe a slight exaggeration) on Lake Simcoe and Cooks Bay has a metric crap ton of them for sure. Honestly never thought I'd get behind culling, but here I am! Not going to lie had one hell of a great time. My buddy knows a farmer that takes them, believe for fertiliser. Also noticed what tends to be a lack of knowledge on some hunters parts of what is open right now! I've been out twice since Goose opener, and while I haven't noticed any ducks being shot, you definitely know some of them were shot at, even hearing duck calls out there. Good thing is I have seen the CO at one of the launches so if anyone does stray from the regs hope they get caught. Also got my first goose, that was fun.

  2. Went up north into the woods. Had a net man/camera man this time. Armed with lures made by board member Misfish. One lure caught lakers, bass and white fish. Caught some real nice ones. Drove around in the boat about 80miles. Had great company so not much talking to myself. One night it was almost 0deg. I had to get up at 2 am and hook up a new propane tank. Almost froze it was so cold.

  3. good practice for duck season indeed. My take on the cull is there has to be some form of use for the birds, the problem might be that we end up with a lot of rotting birds from guys that shoot and just leave them. Which then brings about disease and other issues. Kudos to you for being a good steward and actually following the rules. Guys calling ducks and shooting at them out of season shouldnt be hard to figure out, its not like shotgun shots are quiet. The problem is that there may not be enough CO's to keep this kinda garbage from happening, just as it always is.

  5. not sure it matters anyways, none of us except the richest men in the world will be able to afford a pickup truck by the time my current ram dies in 2030. By that point Diesel will most likely be $5 a litre and trucks will cost $500,000

  6. One of the things I have gotten to do in my career is engage with multiple of the automotive manufacturers in Canada along with many of Canada's largest companies i.e. Loblaws, Coke, Walmart etc. Lets just say, seeing how they operate at Ford Corporate was enough to ensure that I never buy one of their vehicles.

  7. Hello Glen. I just came across this site and happened to see your question. I created an account to share my thoughts. I just installed a bimini on my boat last week but I reversed it front to back. When not in use it folds over the windshield and lays on the deck. When up I can fold it back 1 or 2 of the bows instantly depending on the fishing situation. Will never be in the way. The 2 rear braces are now at the front and attached with quick release pins I got from amazon. These pix are from the mock up but you can see the plan. Its pretty slick.

  8. I just got back from up north. Had a good few days. Trolling bite was on, I lost a giant on a figure 8, buddy couldn't get the net in the water in time. Also had an even bigger fish roll a Suick, come back on it and miss it again. Solid 50in, then 10 mins later the wind dies and the bite stops for the rest of the day. This fish came in at 46, heaviest muskie I've ever held. Super thick everywhere, made that Kawartha fish look like a baby.
