  1. The bigger the hp the more you want electric start electric start should have a charging system to charge your battery which can be a big bonus and it will have a manual start capability if your battery dies

  2. Tekota 500. Buy once cry once. Many of my older tekotas have been on the rack for a long time and some of them where bought used. I haven’t had many issues. I have some older Tekota 300’s that get used all summer and they never miss a beat. The new Tekota 500 is a pretty nice reel. I have a pair of them and so far no they seem to be holding up as well as the old Tek. Good luck!

  3. I've tried alot of different brands of trolling reels and can say Okuma are by far my least favourite. Shops must get a good markup off them as they are popular mostly because shops love to pimp them. In the mid-range I find the Penn's squall or warfare superior. If your going with Tekotas which is a solid choice for sure at least check out the Daiwa Saltists too. Great reels at a similar price point but maybe a bit harder to get your hands on.

  4. Left at 3am. Back at midnight. Fished 3hrs in the morning the 3 before dark. Sat on shore middle of the day. Very sunny. ate ice cream instead of blowing a seal. owensound. 30over 65’. Nothing happening on the spoons. Changed to a Lyman and bam rainbow. Went deep. 65/125. Spoon. Look back rod is straight up. Yell fish and buddy is reeling like mad. It swam straight at the boat. Over the rail and in the pail. some bait 60’ to 80’ of water. Some big fish marked. At least 50 boats so a few fish getting caught. A guy caught 3 Lakers 80/125. It’s just starting out there.
