  1. Ok. I personally feel 20lb braid is too heavy for a 2500 series spinning reel. Yes braid dia is awesome but the trade off is stiffness. If you want 20lb line because you’re fishing heavier cover, you can’t beat a baitcaster and 20lb works great on them. If it’s abrasion type damage you’re worried about, go with a lighter main line, say 10 or 12, and use a heavier weight leader....flouro. Not sure if this helps because I’m not sure what you’re looking to do, but I agree that 20lb braid can be nasty off a spinning reel.

  2. I received a box full of bass flipp,n jigs from a member here a while back. The thought was to tie jigs for deep water lakers or pikeral. Just cut off the weed guard . This was not why I excepted them. I wanted to tie flipp,n jigs. The biggest obstacle was tying around that guard. Pain in the a$$ . So get to thinking on how to keep it out of the way . Came up with , a small nail and paper clip solution . Just push the guard towards and over the eye, insert nail through the eye loop and attach the paper clip . Worked great . To get the guard back to it,s proper shape and location, I just clipped the guard to the hook and let it sit for 5 minutes and the jig was back to normal. Knowing they would take a beat,n, lots of super glue and hard as nails was used on the wraps and securing the half hitch knots . Cut some body parts from thin foam. Ya,rubber would of been better, but do not have any. LOL Anyhoo These are what I came up with. They should work . As I was rummaging through my boxes, I found my popper heads. So tied a couple up .

  3. If you go with a 12 volt Minkota be sure to get one with the Max designation . Those models have variable speed versus set speeds. The Max versions will allow your battery to provide usable power for 3 to 5 times longer. I've had 12 volt Minkotas on 12 and 14 ft boats. I now have a 24 volt bow mounted 80 lb Terrova with 3 year old Wally world deep cycle batteries on my 16 ft aluminum with 50 hp outboard. . I really prefer the 24 volt motor with remote control and foot control. The new versions have better spot lock than mine provides. I troll , anchor and maneuver the boat for casting all day with the electric motor virtually never trolling with my 2 stroke outboard . I live retired in Parry Sound and put a lot of hours on that Terrova fishing numerous days per week. I wouldn't go back to a 12 volt motor.

  4. I think we are going to turn on comments and see how it goes. People are posting things that seem to request replies. Hopefully it will go well if it does then we will keep it going if not we will turn them off again. Art
