That isn't as uncommon as one may think. I've seen all kinds of critters on the ice.

My folks used to have a cottage on the northern Bruce 10 KM south of Tobermory. Deer yarded up on our property in the winter. You would not believe the number of crawly critters we would find in the packed down snow where the deer slept.

A deer got nailed by wolves a week earlier 50 yards from where I was fishing, we figured that’s where it came from, nothing but blood and a few tufts of fur left.
