moses Posted July 29 Report Posted July 29 Heading to dry pine bay area in September. Staying at Castaway cottages. Exited on that area for its close to Mesha Falls and stoney rapids. WAnt to fish just below the falls and rapids. Any one been there lately?
Spiel Posted July 31 Report Posted July 31 I can't offer you anything of late as it's been about 40 years since fished there. Back then I stayed at Dry Pine Camp and the best fishing I had for Walleye was in the dead of night fishing minnow tipped jigs in the down current side of the narrows below the bridge where I have red circled on the map. There was a channel there with weed banks on either side. Anchored in the weeds and jigged in the channel. We caught fish all over but that spot was a consistent hours after sunset and very close to camp. Mind you at the time Great Escape Cabins was not there. Best of luck, it is beautiful waters.
BillM Posted July 31 Report Posted July 31 If I was going to walleye fish the middle french I'd head east and fish crooked rapids. The scenery out that way is second to none. Also there's a nice flat in front of Cross island were you should be able to find a few. Last time we fished Hartley Bay, we cleaned up using jigging spoons tipped with a piece of worm. No need to complicate things for walleye. Smallmouth bass should basically be unlimited in that area as well.
moses Posted July 31 Author Report Posted July 31 Won’t be up East end. Have great spots in the North channel, but won’t be there this year. Fishing from my kayak only this time. 1
moses Posted November 1 Author Report Posted November 1 We have a family cottage not far from there, just pass 5 fish. We stayed one week at Castaway Cottages. Caught some walleye and bass, few pike. If you caught salmon, you would be the first. Never heard of that before on the French. 1
BillM Posted November 1 Report Posted November 1 (edited) Definitely not catching salmon lol. Bots are so stupid sometimes Edited November 1 by BillM 1
