Lake white fish and Tulibee, what's your go to lure or bait

Recommended Posts

was out on a lake yesterday and had schools of tulibee and the odd white fish coming through . They would chase lures but very few would hit

I was using a small silver russian flutter spoon tipped with a minnow. wondering what else works as this was a new to me fishing experience.

It really depends on what part of the country and type of lake I’m fishing

on simcoe meegs and vibratos  fished near the bottom with a loony bin bug or blood worm 3 ft above it for whitefish. But up north

small jigs with white plastic or small spoon 5 to 15 ft above the bottom. If there is a major hatch going on very small bugs and inch plastics work

and for Tulibee /cisco / herring it really depends on how high in the water column they are swimming. But small baits always for them

All the fish on  livescope were within 2 feet of bottom  in 18FOW , they would come in bunches and as soon as I started  jigging the 1in long russian spoon they would get supper active but wouldn't bite will have to tie up some flys and try those. I was able to catch 2 but had multiple schools over the course of the day. Thanks.

Simcoe whities snatch this blood worm tie. I run it 18" up from my bottom bait.
