I was at the bank yesterday in Whitby and when I got out of the car I looked up and saw this....was pretty amazing and a bit scary to see! I kept waiting for a funnel cloud to form!

i'm a bit of a weather nerd. that appears to be a shelf cloud.. typically pretty harmless

 

if you see something like below (wall cloud), with hints of rotation, take cover
