misfish Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 I seen this reply post by Bondar and got me to thinking. http://www.cabelas.ca/product/73875/humminbird-helix-5-sonar The finder is a nice price, but what does it cost to add GPS to a unit by the company? Is it really that much of a cost? Why not add GPS to all units. Just curious to know this is all..
misfish Posted July 28, 2016 Author Report Posted July 28, 2016 (edited) I would of thought there would of been a comment or two. Would you not want GPS with your finder and not have to over pay for one with it? I sure a small chip cant be that much to add as a simple common feature. Edited July 28, 2016 by Brian B
John Bacon Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 I don't think it would cost too much. But as long as people are buying the units without GPS they will probably keep making them.
Terry Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 and now people have 2 or 3 or more fishfinders on their boats they don't need gps in each of them I personally like to use one unit for sonar and a different one for gps/mapping..even-though the units I have have both on them
misfish Posted August 8, 2016 Author Report Posted August 8, 2016 http://www.cabelas.ca/product/73878/humminbird-helix-5-sonargps-combo Nice unit for the price. I guess what I was getting at was, why not just make them all combos.Sure have one low end model, but the rest with GPS/SONOR. Thanks for the post DW.
Gnote Posted August 10, 2016 Report Posted August 10, 2016 I bought a gps for my older humminbird for about 80 bucks a few years ago, not sure of the price now or if the same unit is still made, was a little white circle about as wide as a tennis ball. Sure made finding my lady o spots easier lol
