SirCranksalot Posted November 14, 2015 Report Posted November 14, 2015 I assume a few of you used them last winter. What was your experience? Recommended brands/models? I have used my fly reel but with a 1:1 gear ratio it gets a bit tiring in 100 ft of water!!
ecmilley Posted November 14, 2015 Report Posted November 14, 2015 I have the $40,eagle claw reel used it for Lakers and whities last year no complaintsnso far
Lukasaurus Posted November 14, 2015 Report Posted November 14, 2015 Bought a Frabill 261 last year for perch fishing and just love it. You push the free spool button and your small perch jig free falls to the bottom, you have to stop the spool when you hit bottom or it will keep spinning and you have a mess on your hands. These are great reels, and no line twist. I picked up an Eagle Claw this year, looks to be the exact same reel with a different finish. Thinking about getting the Frabill 371 for lake trout, I love the free spool and no line twist.
SirCranksalot Posted November 16, 2015 Author Report Posted November 16, 2015 I guess this thread is no competition against hot issues such as global conflicts, but I'd like to get a few more opinions nevertheless.
Fisherman Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) Can't remember the model I got but it has silky smooth release and the drag is fine too. I'll add model when I get home. It's a #8 Cold Gear inline reel. Edited November 17, 2015 by Fisherman
Dan668 Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) I use the 13 fishing bb 6061. I like it, make sure you get the higher model for the higher gear ratio. Its pricey, so if your just trying it out, maybe go with the eagle claw.,there is also the frabill 371 Edited November 20, 2015 by dan668
