POLLIWOGG Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 Look in your manual for W. O.T. wide open throttle. Probably around 4500
Fisherman Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 Not 100% sure but they list a 3.0 Litre at 44-4800 rpm, and it's an inline 4. Quite a few years back somone rplaced a Volvo Penta with one of Mercruiser series, I do believe it was a 2.2 ror 2.4 litre GM block.
HookNrelease Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 Hey Bud, found these snippets and kinda similar to yours What is the Maximum recommended RPM for a 3 liter Mercruiser,in a 18 foot Sea Ray? thanks! 4200-4600 I believe heres a good site for info if you ask they will get back to you http://www.themarinedoctor.com/cgi-bin//YaBB.pl cheers ian
lilkynan Posted May 24, 2007 Author Report Posted May 24, 2007 Thanks Ian - turns out with my 3 liter - 4400 - 4800 is peak and top range - only had her at 4000 on Monday and hit 40 mph - so will bring her up to 4800 this weekend if smooth and see what happens. Thanks all
Uncle Buck Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 your boat should be proped so that they max RPM is at WOT, any more (over-reving) and you could be doing damage, any less and you're loosing max power...
