muskymatt Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 Could this be the start of a really bad thing? NR-confirmGrasscarp.pdf
tb4me Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 They figure it was sterile and intentionally released to control weeds?
Dave Bailey Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 According to this CBC report, studies have confirmed it is sterile: http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/story/2013/05/03/kitchener-grass-carp-grand-river.html
mike rousseau Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 Just so we are clear... Grass carp and Asian carp ARE different.... There was a grass carp caught on the st Lawrence a few years ago...
Rich Posted May 7, 2013 Report Posted May 7, 2013 Grass carp eat plankton and algae like asian carp, but dont jump in schools and kill boaters. They really wouldn't be all that bad to have around.. but its never good to introduce a new species to an environment.
