icceman Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Hello all. I'm much of a talker here kinda just enjoy the posts. But this is something that'd perked my interest. What do you guys think about using a salt water spinning real for a freshwater application. There is a sexy reel I would really like get. love to know if there is any negatives or postives Thanks.
Burtess Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 No issues..... just don't do it the other way around lol... Burt
bare foot wader Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 which reel...van stall by any chance? no issues, most saltwater gear is better built than fresh water
aplumma Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 No issues the saltwater reels are normally built with more corrosion resistant parts and better seals. The down side is they are usually slightly more expensive. I am using a few of the okuma saltwater series in fresh for big Catfish with no issues in 5 years. Art
icceman Posted May 3, 2013 Author Report Posted May 3, 2013 thanks for the info. I wish it was a van stall, but thats a little out of the price range. It's this http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Abu_Garcia_Revo_Inshore_Spinning_Reel/descpage-RIS.html.
aplumma Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 looks like a really nice reel thanks for calling our attention to it and don't forget to tell us how it is when you get it. Art
