Cosmos Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Does anyone here fish lake bernard before? I am wondering what type of fish can be catch there any help would be fine or info about the lake Fished this lake 2 times last year. Got 2 lake trouts first time. There are whitefish in the lake as well, i didn't have a chance to caught one. You can get all information in bait shop in Sundridge. I think where are 2 public access points.
adempsey Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) Lake Trout, Whitefish, Ling, Smelt. There are speckled trout as well, but I don't think they are a common catch. Went up a few weeks ago and caught some lake trout. Fishing was pretty slow though. We also caught a bunch of smelt. We were marking smelt all day. Talked to some other people and some whitefish were being caught as well. We accessed the lake via Union Street. Here is a lake map I found on the net: Edited February 29, 2012 by FishLogic
irishfield Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Neat lake structure. Took me 10 seconds to see where I'd be looking for Whities first..
reelinrolly Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 We have a cottage at the South of Bernard, ice fish it almost every year!!! We mainly target Ling at night, but have caught some monster lakers out of there!!...There is also perch, rainbow trout (not common) and bass. If you can get out front of High Rock you will se the shanty town, the locals have pinpointed some of the best structure on the lake. Good Luck if you get out!!!
adempsey Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 Turns out I am heading back up there this weekend =). Hopefully we don't get blown across the lake! The weather forecast isn't looking too good for Saturday =( Sent you a PM Rolly. Was hoping for some Ling tips!
