danbouck Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 So I am able to come up to Simcoe for The Fishing For Tyler Event. I need to know the best spot to take my 5 year old out on the ice. I am a little paranoid when I take him on the ice, this year multiply that by 1000 So I need to know where the best spot is and I don't really care how good the fishing is (But it would be nice to ice a perch this winter) Any help is appreciated.

tightline Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Hey Dan I was in Pefferlaw on Sunday and Keswick on Monday both are sitting around 15 inches of ice...We drove a minivan out on both. Bite was slow both places, but the weather was beautiful so we made the most of it!

LOOK UP THE INTERSECTION SPOONERS AND MAPLE IN LEFROY, YOU CAN WALK OUT THERE. I WAS OFF THERE ON SUN ABOUT 1 MILE OUT IN 30 FT OF WATER AND CAUGHT AT LEAST 100 PERCH...ONLY KEPT 4 BUT HAD SOME FUN....NICE DAY. LEFROY IS JUST A BIT SOUTH OF INNISVILLE BEACH. I WAS ON ABOUT 8 IN'S OF GOOD ICE SO IT'S NOT TOO NERV RACKING...ENJOY

DMASSE Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Dan Outfitters are out of GILFORD, KONTIKI I was there 3 days ago by the green huts 500+ people on the ice drilled 20 or so holes nothing less than 8-10 inches of solid ice. Plenty of ice to walk or atv ON.... See ya saturday Dave

jedimaster Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 I am going out with a group with tim hales this weekend. Hopefully he can put me on some perch as this may be the only ice fishing trip i get to go on this winter. Been so busy, and the lack of good ice has been sad.
