scugpg Posted July 13, 2011 Author Report Posted July 13, 2011 (edited) Ok wasn't sure think the original bolts are galvanized by the looks of it not sure of wood type. Well I tracked down some reasonably priced stainless hardware and got the bunks in today. They fit thankfully but next time I will make sure to measure while boat is in the water...as it was really close. Does it looks like the old bunks were pressure treated? Thanks again guys! So in the end I went with Cedar planks Outdoor carpet from Home Depot Stainless staples Stainless carraige bolts. Edited July 13, 2011 by scugog
Sinker Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 I've had pressure treated bunks on my trailer for at least 10 years, and a pressure treated floor for 6 anyways. If there is any reaction with the PT lumber and aluminum, it has to be very, very minor, because I can't see anything going on. Best part is the wood isn't rotting. I'd say your old bunks were PT as well. S.

Same here....pressure treated bunks for over 15 years....floor is still original.....the trick with pressure treated wood is to always secure your hatches before trailing...right Shayne....
