bow slayer Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 good starter dslr? I have it narrowed down to a nikon d5000 ,a nikon 3100 or a canon T1i. All are in the same price range with the same accessories. any input would be greatly appreciated hope to purchase by the weekend. thanks
EC1 Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 I've been happy with my T1i, I'm not sure how they compare with the Nikons though. Don't think you can go wrong with any of them, but hopefully someone else will be of more help than I am.
Victor Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 I'm an Olympus user myself, have used friends/dad's Nikon/canon but not enough to tell which one I like more. I suggest that you borrow one from a friend or rent one (i believe henrys offers that option) to get a feel of how they are in your hands/your application. IMO it all comes down to personal preferences and it far outweighs the minor differences in spec/functions for a person that's just getting into it. (myself included and I feel the same way still)
BillM Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 (edited) Pick each one up and see how you like the ergonomics.. Edited July 8, 2011 by BillM
archer379 Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 Pick each one up and see how you like the ergonomics.. that is the key when i bought my first dslr i read everything and my mind set on a canon when into blacks they shoed me the canon and the nikon together i walked out with the nikon simply because it felt better in my hands
Twocoda Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 im sure you have been doing your homework but here is a read of direct comparison http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1034&message=36596175&q=canon+t1+vs+nikon+d5000&qf=m Good Luck with your choice
BillM Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Can't go wrong with either choice IMHO. You also need to take into account the price of glass as well (Lenses) for each company.
bow slayer Posted July 13, 2011 Author Report Posted July 13, 2011 well I went with the d5000 nikon, picked it up with 18-55 lens ,55-200 lens,uv filter, second battery, and nikon bag for 700. It was bought in december and had only 300 pictures taken with it. the thing is practically brand new. Then today I get an offer for a T2i for 600. Oh well I really like this nikon. Anyone looking for a T2i for 600 bucks,I could forward you the contact info.
