So I figured what better place than right here! All replies appreciated. Thanks everyone Best Regards SteveO Edited June 5, 2011 by docknocker
blue pickeral Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Followed advice here earlier and purchased Lowrance HDS 5. Really pleased with it: -easy to use for complete noob -GPS - track your route, mark fishing holes -sharp color screen image even in bright sun for 'middle aged' challenged vision(for the money your friend could probably wrangle HDS 7 - larger screen) -expandable - map chips, 3D add ons, network with other sonars, etc. -lots of built in features that come in handy. Best price when I was shopping was at Radio World and when extra rig was needed, RW had it to me in one day.
Mike01 Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 I have a Humminbird 757c. Has dual beam sonar(focused and wide cone) and all the GPS stuff you need. Only downside is I bought it before the side imaging units came out. And it's very simple to use, I think I've only had to look at the manual once.
esoxansteel Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 You can get Lowrance and Eagle, and see water depts you never thought existed, mine finds me holes in Rice Lake that are 382 feet, just 50ft out from the Hiawatha Launch, I never new weeds could grow 382ft
