Terry Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 if you saw the restrictions they put on historic buildings and the financial burden on the owners sometimes burning to the ground is the only answer
irishfield Posted January 3, 2011 Author Report Posted January 3, 2011 I know them well Terry.. had a 3 story building on Dundas St E collapse on top of me in the summer of 1978 while we were renovating and trying to save the front wall to meet the historic regulations of cabbage town...
bigbuck Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 We had one burn down on Dundas here in Oakville down the road from me a couple of years ago. The developer couldn't build on the site with it there and it had to be 'Preserved', with a gallon of gas and a match.
Guest gbfisher Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 They could have blown it up and blamed it on the terrorists... ...
Joey Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 My son works steps from there, so I called him and he went by there about 11 am and it was still smoldering. He said that same building collaped partially last year and has just been sitting there dangerously ever since.
