4x4bassin Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 I am heading up to a lake this week that has an all year lake trout season and was wondering where whould be a good place to start looking for them ? I know in the spring they are shallow and the summer they are deep but this late in the fall I really don't know where to start. The lake is stocked with lake trout and the present population do not spawn , so i'm told (that is why there is no closed season) or maybe they still go through the motions ,I don't know. Thanks
johnnyb Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 I would look for all the classic lake trout structure, and work it from deep to shallow. With water temps being ideal for them, they could be anywhere....good luck!
alexmedic Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 I have found when targeting pike this time of the year in the Muskokas, flat -ining has always nailed the occasional laker. Big spoons, 1.5 mph
4x4bassin Posted November 9, 2010 Author Report Posted November 9, 2010 Thanks guys , The weather is calling for calm weather the next couple of days so I think I will look for them on the lowrance and sit on top of them and jig for awhile and then move a bit shallower and flatline if that doesn't produce. I have had good sucess this year with the lake trout jigging thanks to some guys on this board and there reports !
