scuro2 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Need an electric trolling motor and my preference would be as small as possible yet able to push a 12 ft tin boat around for 3-4 hours of trolling. Anyone name a good brand and model?
Muskieman Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Duramax from Canadian Tire will do the trick @ 119.00$ 32lbs thrust and a 2 year warranty.. + a 24 or 27 series Deep Cycle battery and you'll be good to go. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/5/SportsRec/Marine/TrollingMotors/PRD~0798502P/12V%252BShaft%252BTrolling%252BMotor.jsp?locale=en Randy
splashhopper Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 got a 36lb thrust Motoguide motor and a brand new battery with it off Kijiji... $140.00 Pushes my 12 ft tinnie around with no problem for a couple of weekends on one charge
danbouck Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 a 30 pound would do it, a 36 would be better. I use my 55 pound wireless on my 12 and you can waterski behind it lol
MCTFisher9120 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I'm picking up the new Motor Guide Vari Max 45lb's Thrust. It's awesome on power and will give you a awesome multi speed setting with even better use of power. Think there 3x better on power use then normal trolling motors. Have a look, MTBF
scugpg Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Minn Kota Traxxis would be my preference they are a great motor.
mercman Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Duramax from Canadian Tire will do the trick @ 119.00$ 32lbs thrust and a 2 year warranty.. + a 24 or 27 series Deep Cycle battery and you'll be good to go. http://www.canadiant...r.jsp?locale=en Randy minnkota endura 122.00 at sail. use it on my 14 ft tinner. works fine unless its really windy, above 30 kmh. but then above 30 i really shouldnt be on the st lawerence
scuro2 Posted August 23, 2010 Author Report Posted August 23, 2010 (edited) Got a refurbished minnkota with a 2 year warranty from angling outfitters for $90. I am clueless about the battery...how do you recharge it? Are there some that are easier to charge? Edited August 23, 2010 by scuro2
