MSBruno Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 For those of you who stick it out bassin' or just generally fishin in the rain, what do you lean more towards? Do you abandon top-waters? Sub surface lure? Go deep? Mimic dazed and confuzed baitfish? Thanks in advance!
Greencoachdog Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 I find that the fish will usually be shallower and pretty active if it's just a steady or light rain, unless it's really going to storm... then they'll be cowering in the depths! Checkout their shallow haunts, if they aren't there use your sonar to locate them in the depths.
Leecher Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 I would definitely use a crank bait such as BigO in this type of condition. Leechman
spinnerbaitking Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 Spinnerbaits & Crankbaits start shallow & head deep if you need too, I have had some good days with red spinnerbaits on low light days, some times bigger blades than usual Richard
acmarou Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 I fish a small, shallow lake(deepest point is 12ft) for smallmouth and found that what GCD holds true. In a steady rain they hit my xraps. When the wind and chop picked up tubes worked best. When I used live bait, it made no difference.
