danc Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 If you don't know anything about Border Collies, you should know this. They are consistently rated as the smartest breed on the planet. So smart in fact, that you don't have to teach them anything. They understand the English language. Anyways, I let Abby out for her run, and run she did. After a while I told her to "go get me a stick". Now this is not anything that we've done before. And it's not easy to find a stick under 3 feet of snow. So off she goes until she finds a dead tree branch sticking out of the snow. It took her about 2 or 3 minutes, but she worked and worked until she succeeded at breaking this branch off a tree and bringing the "stick" back to me. Here's the series of shots that I got. And finally, success!!! Besides the entertainment supplied by Abby, I saw a few young deer today.
brandon Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 great shots....love the lighting on the deer

osmondrs Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Dan, Abby is not only smart, she's gorgeous... the first of the deer is one beautiful capture. Os
Guidofisherman Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Great pictures. I had a Border Collie for 19 years and agree they are very intelligent dogs. I think they train you!
Spiel Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 Great shots Dan. I know what you're saying about border collies. Brook (my pup) may only be border collie on hers dads side but my lord she's a smart as whip. I hope to get her up there to run and play with Abby this year.
tknohpy Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 I too have a border collie and agree with you about understanding everything you say to them.
pameladallaire Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Ooooh, more Abby reference pics to choose from. Wonderful shots! Pam
