forrest Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 (edited) Anyone of this board try one of these electronic colour detector things? http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0030312119648a.shtml They are not cheap, but, do have a 45ft cord for deeper water. Has anyone used them? forrest PS there are reviews on the site but I trust this forum more. Edited November 29, 2008 by forrest
jwl Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 (edited) just a fancier version of that little wheel type thing they used to have out like 15-20 years ago...was just like a pie chart that had variable conditions on there and colour choices..I think most people that put alot of time into fishing various waters at various times of year already have a pretty good idea of what to run Edited November 29, 2008 by jwl
johnnyb Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 Ahh, I think you mean the colour-c-lector, JWL. I like your name better though, Forrest...DETERMINATOR! Sounds like it would make a good movie title....
Terry Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 I have used them..mine had a 50 ft wire and they do work but you end up looking everywhere for a purple spinnerbait because that's the colour it asked for once you learn what colour to use on sunny days and dark days on each body of water, you will start leaving it at home and 15 years later be wondering where it is because someone posted a question about them now where the heck did I leave it
forrest Posted November 29, 2008 Author Report Posted November 29, 2008 Thanks guys for the good info. I also found this video that taught me about color selectors and more http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PO7WCM4jTw
Rich Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 I got one of the old ones from my grandfather. The most important thing to remember is that it's not telling you what will catch fish, it's simply telling you what's most visible under the current PH/light conditions.
