gone_fishin Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 i'm going up to Diamond Lake near Bancroft in a couple weeks and i'd love to get into a couple Lakers. the problem is, i've never fished the lake before, and my dad's friend, who's cottage we're going to, hasn't really fished it either. so, if anyone here has ice fished there for lake trout, what depth should i be looking for and what baits have worked in the past? also, are there other species available like whitefish, walleye or even pike in Diamond Lake? or is it mainly just lake trout? Thanks!
Smokey Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Lake trout and bass are the only fish found in the lake. I used to fish between the 20 and 40 ft mark and catch them there. It's not really a deep lake and minnows worked best for me. Good Luck
mistaredone Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 From my time on the lake id agree with smokey, lakers and bass. Its a pretty small lake so you probably wont take long to get into some fish. If you dont have much luck on dimond take a 5 min drive to Baptiste Lake where you will find a good mix of spices.
gone_fishin Posted January 28, 2008 Author Report Posted January 28, 2008 Thanks guys, looking forward to trying a new lake!
