  1. even 3 or 4 feet they like the shallow bays that warm up quick if the water is 45-48F and you find a 50-55 degree spot, work it...run fast enough to make the bait work proper. small baits because minnows are still small this time of year and all day long, thats why you need boards big flat shallow bays it may be a bit different here because we are in 14 but its kinda like inland lakes rather than great lakes up the St Marys
  2. shallow warm water pulling small cranks like flicker minnows on planer boards is what works here try to find murky water
  3. I'll buy the evil part but the second word in the leaders title I wonder about
  4. 14 is special here...May 15 opener, 10 inland is May 21
  5. Trades are alive and well...but who can afford 46 bucks for a tin banger
  6. what were they hitting on?
  7. ...back when I was a teenager, they were all long haired hippie drug smoking freaks listening to that loud rock music so what is it that changed? I made it through high school and a bit of college...both my kids have Uni degrees we need a grumpy old men section
  8. Thanks drifter. I kinda like that t handle one. I will be carrying a spare from now on. I rarely ever take the plug out because the boat gets stored inside and doesn't get rain in it. Bilge pump takes care of anything when I'm in it. It sure got a workout Sunday...ran for 20 minutes at least
  9. Its a spot at the end of a road where you can kinda get a 14' tinner in so people used it, and they screwed it up
  10. My fishing buddy lives on an island that has a boat launch at the end of the road...people launch and park right in private driveways, they parked on his lawn once and got rude when he asked them to not park on his lawn...as if, hey, there is a boat launch..where do you expect me to park...township posted all the roads in the area no parking and issued lots of tickets. Problem is gone now but also nobody can launch there either because the is no place to park. A bit of respect goes a long way, none ruins it for everybody
  11. I would say Lake Superior PP but I don't think the ice is out there yet either
  12. If Kathleen and Dalton would have left well enough alone with global warming the ice would be gone and you would be fishing this weekend :wallbash:
  13. It was on the inside originally but its in a hard spot to get at. After this, I'm putting it back inside and carrying a spare in case it comes out on the inside.
  14. Just a couple inches of smelts in the bottom of the pail...enough for a feed and a bit of bait for pike and lake trout. Down around the bays at Pine Island Joey. Really wasn't that much work Moose. The boat breaks the ice just fine and the cold just means you wear a jacket and pants. There was no rain and no wind Sunday, didn't even need to anchor to jig in 80fow..just that silly plug issue made me a tad nervous for a few minutes. And, every place I fished is less that an hour from getting in the truck to getting in the boat.
  15. I had the plug tied to a small rope in case I hit a log or something. I guess the ice ripping around yanked the rope enough. I would have been gunning it to shore if things didn't work out quick I was almost out of time to be able to lean over the back and get the plug back in...
  16. Looks good...I really need to get out spec fishing soon
  17. I made it out for a bit of fishing. Wed night was smelts. Too dark for pictures so this is Thurs night. Then since work is so slow they make me take Fridays off so we went for perch. Ice was supposed to be out but we had to break a bit. Some cold on the water with the breeze. Got a few fatties, 13" almost Then Sunday was lake trout and whitefish day Had to break ice then too and almost sunk the boat because the ice knocked my plug out..over the floor before I noticed something was amiss this is my trail I made on the way out...only boat there. But I got a fish so it was a good day going to be a couple weeks before I get out again..gotta pick sonny up from school next week
  18. Its a huge country...why does everybody have to live in the same spot
  19. I saw a Vector on the trail this winter...about an 06, with 32,000 miles on it, thats 53.000 km..it was broke, he thought maybe a bearing in the gear case let go. I sold my Rage with 18,000 km
  20. Thanks...just might give em a try...hitting the smelt river tonight..gotta love spring time
  21. CO's have always had a bad rep though. They let very little go when they have a chance to issue a ticket. It makes me wonder why. Could it be because they catch so few people that they have to make everything count or are they just naturally like that. I haven't personally had trouble with them but since I was 16 I have only seen about 3 of them and for the life of me I can't remember actually showing one my license, fishing or hunting.. I sure hear some horror stories from other guys though
  22. Crap..I gotta get a bell for my bicycle And you really gotta wonder...when its noteworthy enough to make a thread on a fishing forum because the CO didn't lay it to you for a minor infraction like that...what kind of a police state do we live in. I don't know what emote to add to this
  23. Nice catch I'm going for them Friday. From what I been told you gotta get there right at ice out and in my bay that should be today. PS You should invest in a 5 gallon bucket PSS whats a yamaminnow?
  24. Look at it this way...you barely ever have to work on a Yamaha so they make it so the mechanic can make a couple bucks when he finally gets to Mine has 16,000 km on it now
  25. OK, same motor as my Vector...lots of fun taking that apart. Isn't the rad up in front of the track? go to Totally Yamaha for some good tips http://www.ty4stroke.com/forums/rs-general-talk.14/
