  1. once we get through "breakdown" mode, then we'll get to rebuilding time. i'd say this year (and likely next year) will be breakdown mode. likely it'll be the 2017-2018 season where we start truly rebuilding. I'd say by 2018-2019 we'll see the playoffs.... and by 2019-2020 we'll see a true Cup run....
  2. I'd take that photo down man.....stuff is still illegal.
  3. atta boy!!! that'll be great for so many local spots...upper niagara, lower grand river, hamilton harbour, lighthouse cove, waterford, binbrook, montsburg, as well as all the closer kawartha's. have fun!!!!!
  4. I used the Len Thompsons for browns when I needed to go a little deeper than a cleo was getting me (and by deep I mean 8' of water, down from 5' of water, lol). My first year of chasing browns I only had an old tackle box with some of my dad's old spoons in it...wabler, crocodile, LT#4, cleo, and of course, the staples Daredevil and 5 of Diamonds. Trout will eat anything :) how much casting vs trolling do you guys do on these trips? I'm assuming the trolling is the way to cover water until you find the money spots.
  5. yes, heroin could be added to hash or hash oil certainly....but straight up pot.... this is just fear mongering!
  6. please expand on how it would be possible to lace a green plant, marijuana, with a black tar substance, like heroin? this should be interesting.
  7. In reality, that is so very ultra absolutely rare you wouldn't ever actually see that happen. Those are just common myths. I mean it would literally IMPOSSIBLE to lace weed with heroin, based on the composition of each drug.
  8. Make'm? perfect them!
  9. So do many cops. I'm happy that little brother is watching.
  10. Me neither. keep those scary people away.
  11. You know, I'm glad you like your job. You're a teacher, one of the most influential roles in a young persons development. All the best teachers in my life loved their job...I wish we could make every teacher happy. Our society would be better for it...and you can't put a number or cost on that...
  12. In the private industry, salaries and wages are often tied to company profits. In the good times, when companies are making money, salaries go up, and everyone is happy. However, in these tough times, when the private industry hasn't had good growth in a long time, salaries and wages aren't exactly climbing up any ladders. You can only blame the employers so much...(of course, if your in an industry that "does" have growth, this really doesn't apply). In the public industry, where salaries and wages aren't directly tied to profits, at least not in the same degree as the private industry, you can get things like guaranteed salary indexing...in some cases, right through retirement. I think that's why its tough to compare jobs in the public, vs jobs in the private....
  13. beautiful video. thanks for sharing. the dorsal fin on the male sure is chewed up....
  14. of course landry. no one automatically gets cost of living, or salary indexing. I work in the private industry and our pay has been frozen for two years in a row..... if I was to suggest "not doing reports", or "leaving on time, and not working late - yes, i'm salary and not getting paid", or else I'm going to strike, I'd be fired on the spot.... My father has had his pay DECREASE for the last six years straight...he's an industrial electrician. Only folks I know that get salary indexing are my power working union friends, or my teacher union friends. I should also mention, our sick days do not get paid out, or accumulated. They cancel at the end of each year. Teachers got it good....REALLY GOOD!
  15. democracy. choose your dictator.
  16. I know, I sound like a broken record, but ... the Leafs played a decent game.... We stunk for a bit, but picked it up in the end, making a good run at it. How long has it been since we saw the Leafs actually come back in a game...last few years we'd play a strong couple periods, and collapse in the 3rd...like clockwork . Now we have a structure that motivates the team to give it their all right to the end. Good coaching!
  17. just patched some holes in the downspouts from the evestroughs. good ole duct tape...looks very redneck...neighbours will be impressed (faces their driveway, lol). ready for the downpour, lol.
  18. The gateway argument was a simple manipulation of a common question. Same question, asked two different ways: 1) ask 1,000 heroin / crack / meth users if they started smoking pot first, and you will no doubt get a very high percentage say yes. 2) ask 1,000 pot smokers if they have since started consuming heroin / crack / meth and you will no doubt get a very high percentage say no. Guess how the question will be asked, when manipulating information regarding use of marijuana as a "gateway" drug?
  19. Babcock will be around for many more years. As will Shanny and Lamoriello.
  20. That's a fall fatty!!! Nice rig your running there as well. Looks like a solid setup.
  21. I can imagine what it was like crossing the open section of that lake, twice, in rollers....not fun. A good north east wind would be a blast... I have to admit, I do appreciate your sense of adventure...You could be dropped in the most remote lake, virgin water, and the first thing you'd do is look for a river or outlet, all in the quest to find even more "virgin water"... :) The two islands in the centre of the lake look like a money zone, I'm assuming that's around where you came across that shoal on the finder? Good score coming across a spot like that. Shows the importance of having a finder on these outpost trips...no matter how simple of a finder it may be. Your #4 Len Thompson made me laugh. When I started trolling in Lake O in the early 2000's I took a bunch of my dad's old spoons he had never used..one was that exact spoon. I used it flat lining, because it was heavy...took a number of browns!! Love the old tackle box finds !! So anymore planned for this fall? It'll be snowing up there soon...
  22. I believe it also makes it illegal to strike if you are an essential service....
  23. sorry, was at the grocery store, and missed your question. yes, I knew it was an Atlantic. However, in my mind, an Atlantic is no better or worse than other fish in the Great Lakes. As such, I was more upset about the needless slitting and wasting of the fish.... Whether it was an Atlantic, Brown, or Rainbow.
  24. i'd actually be ok with it, if it was being eaten..... at least it isn't being wasted for illegal sale, or to be used as bait. still should not have discarded the fish on the shore however.
  25. you feel the roe on that fish was used to eat? interesting. I've never heard of folks slitting browns/atlantics/bows, etc to eat the roe.... it has been for their own use, or blackmarket sales to unscrupulous tackle shops.
