  1. Last night on daily planet they had a really good piece on the polar bears in southern hudsons bay. Some pretty wild footage. You can probably catch it again this morning/afternoon.
  2. White lake lodge is about 15 minutes before marathon. They only have cabins but a one bedroom is like $60/night and you can fish right off the dock. You cook your own food though. Right on hwy 17
  3. Ive used the same MSR filter for a while now. Never had a problem and never did any secondary type of treatment. Great point on the drink crystals if you have to boil or use the tablets its helps out alot. I bring gatorade powder....helps in the morning after campfire antics.
  4. specks on breakfast sausage and a pike on a lamprey. Im eager to try gummy worms out this summer for bass too
  5. Thanks for all the info guys Ive sent out a bunch of emails. hopefully one works out.
  6. What everyone else said plus another amazing. youve got that lake dialed great job.
  7. Well Im just about to finish grad school and have no real job prospects in my field. Im making finding a job a lot tougher by refusing to live anywhere near toronto. But I was thinking of trying to work as a guide at a lodge this summer. Does anyone have any experience or input as to what type of place I should look at. Also when looking into a prospective place what are the questions I should be asking and what to look out for? Best case know a lodge looking for a guide?? Appreciate any help
  8. Some good products for sure. What a location, I got some line and a case of pops from 1 parking spot
  9. All the things Ive read regarding opening up the west of North America couger was a prized meat by the frontier folk. Granted that was a long time past and hunting couger for sustience is not plausible due to the low reproductive success of them or any other large carivore. That aside thats about the biggest one Ive seen a picture of Im thinking getting around 175-200lbs??
  10. Though its never nice to see an animal like that killed, bear in mind in a place like Alberta where cougers are quite plentiful hunting plays an important role in keeping the population in check. what happened in California when then banned hunting for them...attacks and incidents in the city increased many fold. thus opens the can o worms
  11. Though I imagine it can be done, in the many camps Ive been to propane is by far the most popular method to power the fridge, stove. I believe the other items you mentioned could be run off a fairly small solar panel/battery bank. Especially if you use LED lights. Im very interested in hearing more about this also
  12. Where? one of these lakes... Ontario lake trout lakes When? call local tackle shops to get an idea of ice out this spring typically mid april to early may
  13. Now thats hockey. What a bushleague move by Ruff sending out the toughguys to go after the #1 line for the sens. Emer might be one of the most underrated tough guys in the league I saw him do the asme thing many times in the OHL. I hope CBC bumps the leaf game on saturday so we can see a rematch.
  14. Good job bud. Hows the ice up that way any slush on top? we'll get after em again soon. cheers
  15. What a trip bonus you got to share it with your dad and uncle. your posts have got me planning some spring canoe trips up that way...if I dont get a job by then they could be extended ventures.
  16. The stretch factor in mono is nice when handbombing a fish in. my manual drag still needs some tuning
  17. Depends on a pile of factors the sportfish eating guide is a good start to find out if the lake is polluted. anything around 1lb generally hasnt been alive long enough to accumlate a great deal pollutants.
  18. Even if you leave the skin on, after its cooked it will literally fall off. Id only worry about removing skin on a large fish to prevent eating the fat just under it. This can hold a high level of contaminents
  19. An absolutely hilarious recount of the events. Prehaps an angled hole will reduce wind resistence on your structure. At least you toughed it out
  20. It was a great trip for sure. The 130am wake was a little agressive but Gerritt had the coffee ready to go when I got there which made it easier. The fishing started off slow but a bit of exlporation started to yield better results. It was a blast meeting a bunch of OFC'ers and getting out for a day of fishing. Bg thank you to the staff at Carra's for the extra mile they went to help us out. Thanks also to Gerritt for putting it all together and driving down. Look forward to doing it again soon. Next time though I think everyone is gonna double check that the boots are in the truck
  21. Anyone know how much snow is on the now? wondering if I should bring snowshoes down or not. thanks
  22. Im getting pumped up for this like crazy now. See you all out there Saturday morning.
