  1. I'm not sure stricter road tests would do a damned thing about road safety. Some of the examiners are such buffoons. I was asked during my G to "hurry it up" in a 50 zone because I was doing 40. It was raining. Then I was reamed for slowing down on a lane change, even though a car was up ahead in the lane I was changing into, and there no were other cars on the road behind me in either lane. "And what if there had been a car behind you?" "Well, doofus, there wasn't, but there was one up ahead!" All the while you're giving yourself whiplash constantly looking in every direction. I wonder what the qualifications are to get a job as an examiner, I'm sure they are very lax. Radars and cameras on every corner, basically outlawing speeding once and for all, would go a long way in improving road safety. Why are cars made to go 150 km/h+? Not for safety reasons...
  2. Governments DO sometimes provide conflicting information. I got my G1 in Aug 2003 I got my G2 the day before my G1 expired, I paid $75 to renew my license, validating my G2 for another 5 years I got my G in 2012. I did not have to ask for an extension nor get special permission for a renewal.
  3. It also says on the site that you must wait 12 months after passing your G2, to take your G road test, and yet you claim to have done both in one day? In any case, I am 25, and I wrote out the years in which I did my tests. As I stated, rules change. Despite what the site says, I still think the rules I got still apply, so the OP should call and clarify by telephone. If his son passes his G2 right now, and the rules that I went by still apply, his G2 will be valid for 5 years. If new rules exist, he should figure out exactly what would happen to his son, because if he needs to wait 12 months to do his final road test, but that falls after the 5 years from the date he got his G1, I am not sure what would happen. Also keep in mind, if a new "5 years to do it all" rule was implemented recently, it probably will not apply to his son, who got his G1 5 years ago
  4. 2003: I got my G1 2008: I got my G2 2012: I got my G When your son gets his G2, he will have 5 years to get his G. I got my G2 the day my G1 was going to expire (why get it earlier, how the hell can a young student afford a car, + insurance, + gas ??) The reason the above posted did not get another 5 years, is because he failed his G2, and thus allowed his G1 to expire. Once your G1 expires, you're back to having to get your G1 so you're starting over again technically. Had he passed his G2, his G2 would have been valid for 5 years, thus giving him another 5 years to get his G. Call on Monday, because regulations are constantly changing, but I highly doubt they would change this. Hope that helps.
  5. For those of you who don't know this: All that is required to legally sell roe, is that you purchase it from an aquaculture source, and have proof in case of getting checked. No permit required to sell aquaculture roe. The receipt is a de facto permit. I know because I am a vendor.
  6. Up to 2 years and more..! Interested to know how many amongst this predominantly male group have heard of this or tried it? Edit: Women shave too, oops. My experiment began today. I won't say NF, because this can save you money, money which you can spend on more fishing!
  7. A very rare catch, nice!
  8. Can't say I ever heard that before. I heard that the Heart and Stroke Foundation was funded by Margarine money, and they started the propaganda about saturated fat to boost margarine sales. But I mean really, we all know about this type of corruption and this is a fishing forum, so I will stop contributing to this thread now.
  9. Well said, now if only balance was a birth right
  10. Real coke is less bad for you than Diet, Diet coke has aspartame, very very bad for you!
  11. I'd say we're dying longer, not living longer. A lot of factors in calculating average life expectancy, but I think from a few generations back, our life expectancy is actually on the decrease... It is true that balance is necessary in eating to maintain health. Emotional health is very important. If your life is a wrecking ball, chances are you won't be able to eat well and keep your health. And today's lifestyles are so stressful, health has been left by the wayside.
  12. A world of difference between ingesting whole foods that are fatty (avocados, nuts) than ingesting foods with added fat (meat with lots of oil on the pan, anything deep fried). Chances are, you will get full before you will get fat eating proper fats. If you're fat, you're eating too much oil or dairy fat somewhere in your diet. You won't get fat eating peanut butter. Dairy fat is also very fattening to people, found in milk and cheese. Dairy is much, much more damaging than grains. It's the only thing on the Food Pyramid that is 100% complete propaganda. It's not healthy for you. At all. Even raw, organic dairy from cows that get pampered from birth. Why? Because cow's milk has a very specific purpose on this planet. It's for BABY COWS! If you offered someone a grilled cheese sandwich, and after they ate it, you told them that the cheese was made from your neighbour's wife's breastmilk, they would probably be disgusted. Well at least that's human milk, meant for humans. Now just imagine how disgusting cow's milk is. Cows pumped with drugs and hormones to boot. Dairy will cause you IBS, crohn's, UC, acne, BO, massive phlegm production, and many ailments that are improperly labeled as "flus" or "colds" are actually your immune system dealing with the toxicity in your body that is caused by ingesting..dairy. Dairy is in everything, from bread, to candies, chips, coffee, desert, they even put it in sauces, breaded meat products, burgers, you name it. It's everywhere, it's physically addictive and is a drug that most people are addicted to. But big time mafia-like businesses make way too much money every second of the day selling it all over the place. Remember the drink milk love life ads? Propaganda at its finest, and it sure as hell worked. Everyone is convinced they need it and that it's healthy, and their sales went through the roof. It wreaks havoc on your body, because you're not a baby cow. /rant
  13. PS. I think the point of the poster is that fishing is happiness, not gear, the gear is just the enabler. Actually I don't think so, I know so, from plenty of first hand experience.
  14. Very cool poster, eTackle should sell it, if it doesn't already
  15. There's no way you're not being sarcastic. Cohos are like steelhead with mad cow disease. Here's a pic of a coho in case you need to be reminded of which fish they are. Perhaps you had them mistaken for another species:
  16. One thing I would say is focus more on the quality of the build, and the rated line weight, more than whether it's called "M" or "MH".
  17. Kaladar, right? Saw that today. The guy who owns that chip and burger shop is a character. Man, there is some damn good fishing in that neck of the woods. Daaaaamn good.
  18. I feel your excitement, they are a beautiful fish. My first LM was about 13" and I was excited as hell to have caught it. Looks like it has a crayfish in its belly.
  19. That's a small mouthed largemouth.
  20. He was very softspoken and shy, given that he was apparently the first man on the moon. Something is suspicious about the whole thing. RIP and no disrespect, I just think he took some secrets with him to the grave because he was forced to.
  21. Spinners work, but they are by no means the most consistent way to catch catfish, which you probably already know. Seems they will readily take just about any organic bait. I would assume the bigger ones are coming upstream from Lake Erie to spawn.
  22. Catfish do indeed hit spinners regularly. I caught one this week on a spoon too. Funny you say that spinners are underrated, as many anglers I talk to say it's their #1 lure. I've caught more game fish on spinners than any other lure. 50c spinners from the dollar store to boot.
  23. I might add, that's no ordinary pun there. Firstly, it's obviously a play on the words bear/bare. Also, "Please bear with us" can be interpreted as "Please, let's keep the bear with us," or even "Let's please the bear that is with us, [by not shooting it]." A triple pun, that's gotta be some kind of a record.
  24. I'm not surprised the MNR turned it down, they can only afford the "bear essentials" right now.
