  1. I am interested as well in possibly renting an ice bungalow, wondering what sort of prices there are... Species I'm assuming is mostly walleye and perch? Burbot?
  2. Right on, I think the entire "bay"... which used to be connected to Lake O... is entirely made up of flats, some areas shallower than others... and no real points. I have caught a few of them in the spring, one about 2lbs on a pike minnow. But I don't know much about them at all. Just that I was not expecting to see a flash of silver when I was bringing it in.
  3. Beauty! Better luck than yesterday eh buddy? Am I right in thinking the rain and the upcoming cold spell will help make the ice a lot nicer?
  4. I know there's a shallow water body about 5 minutes away from my house... shallow murky water. Lots of carp and bullheads, pike, white perch and black crappies are the main fish species in there. I don't think it gets very deep, probably 5 or 6 ft max. Anyone ever ice fish for White Perch? Is there any techniques to it? Once I know the ice is solid, I'll probably try for pike and white perch. Or crappie if I can find em.
  5. Thanks for the update! How much snow was on top of the ice? Wondering about that rain on Boxing Day... how much damage it will do to the ice... or if it might help by melting to snow?
  6. I respect that and appreciate your response. And I understand that it is still early... and I definitely wouldn't be going alone. My buddy and I were thinking of checking out the lake on New Years weekend.
  7. Right on man, thanks for the update. Do you think a small lake just north of Norland would be any better?
  8. I'm eager to get out, but not eager to fall through. My main target is a small lake south of Minden...Any ideas on ice formation up there? Good to hear you got at least a fish fry out of it! What did ya catch?

  10. Anybody ever ice fish Mitchell Lake? I assume to avoid the Canal, as it's likely to have much sketchier ice.
  11. bahahahahahah brilliant photo
  12. forecast looks good, just gotta find someone willing to hit some early ice with me
  13. oh shizzah, a good foot o' snow comin' eh?
  14. i'd love to be on the ice in a week or so... Just hope the ice is safe
  15. Is there still going to be access for this winter? or have they already put a cease on that?
  16. Right on guys, thanks for the heads up! With the weather forecast, give it a couple weeks?
  17. Any word on ice forming on smaller lakes up that a ways so far? When I heard of skimming on some of kawarthas, that got me thinking about smaller lakes... and got me excited.
  18. Right on bud! Good catch, were you fishin from shore? I'm gettin' hungry lookin' at the picture
  19. No the chances are definitely not good. I told my buddy that, but he seems optimistic... I guess it's a good way to be, but thinking of it logically... The odds are stacked against him. I'm confused how the boat nose dived, full throttle.
  20. http://www.intelligencer.ca/2016/11/11/body-pulled-from-rice-lake-south-of-peterborough My friend called my last night, and told me the news. His brother's good friend went out on fishing Rice Lake with another guy back on November 10th, and hasn't been seen since. They found his boat at the bottom of the lake, engine was still full throttle and looked as if it nose dived into the bottom. They found the other guy, floating\washed up on shore... dead. No signs of the my buddy's friend. Sad news, very sad. Hopefully they find him soon, and really hoping they find him alive... but the chances don't seem too high. Be careful out there.
  21. Worm and bobber in the shallows eh? Like, against shore kinda shallow? Or like 5-10ft kinda shallow? Will they still go for a spinner or small spoon? Minnows? We'll hopefully have about 2 days of fishing, since we are camping at the lake for the night.
  22. I've never tried fishing for rainbows or any other trout in the fall... Any starter's advice? Lures, bait... classic fall habitat? ... I've been trying to research online, but all of the trout fishing tips I can find are about steelies or lakers.
  23. I couldn't imagine being a yank and having to decide between the two. In my opinion, it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. In one aspect of trump's behaviour, it makes him seem at least human as opposed to the usual robotic presidents and candidates. And for the Americans who want to see the government change, unfortunately for them, the only option is the Trump. Clinton will continue to run the country in the same corrupt manner. The change Trump would bring is very questionable as to how beneficial it would be to the country and its peoples. Now, I'm going to take a very bold step here... I think I would rather see the Trump in office than Clinton... Just to see what will happen, what portion of his plans will be enacted. And all in all, Trump is pro 2nd amendment, so therefor... if he winds up being tyrannical or just insane, they have the right to overthrow him... and perhaps reshape their hilarious joke that is their "democratic" system.
  24. Much appreciated Jayess! We'll be headed up for the last weekend of October. I got a couple stocked lakes picked out, hopefully we can figure out the fish at this time of year.
