  2. I have a cottage on Lower Buckhorn in the Kawartha's and have not been up yet to open but have been watching a webcam from Reach Harbour Resort and seen very high water levels has anyone been up to the area. Here is a link to the webcam check it out the docks are under water and over the cement which is normally a foot above the lake level check it out Lower Buckhorn Webcam Kawartha Kev

  5. I was there and to say the least rather disappointed !!!!! Not a very good show at all.
  6. My condolences also Lew even though I have never met you we have contacted each other on several topics. Kevin
  7. Nice pics from Grouse mountain Brandon. Looks like you took them from the same place I did several years back here is what the view looks like in early spring. Enjoy Kawartha Kev
  8. Nice fish Bob!! Sorry I didn't see your original request for help or I would have suggested some things as i have a cottage on lower Buckhorn. I know the areas from your pics well and they have produced for me also. I see now they have dropped the water level so that can cause problems fishing as there are lots of shallow rocks on the lake. 9. Well fall is here and the colours are spectacular this year thanks to all the rain this summer and good conditions so far this fall so here a few pics of the fall colours from my cottage on Lower Buckhorn north of Peterborough so lets see some of your fall colour pics from elsewhere around Ontario or from anywhere as this is the time to take advantage of this short time of the beauty of mother nature. So Enjoy!!! Kawartha Kev
  10. Want to catch a record fish better get one of these rods check out this crazy story http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080821/ap_on_...ishing_record_1
  11. Welcome Dean Welcome to OFC and to Lower Buckhorn. It is not that large a lake and offers lots of fishing opportunities depending on what species you are after. As I have said in other posts beware of this lake it has lots of sunken rocky shoals once you get off the main channel especially on the north side of the lake so be careful. I fish around the many islands throughout the lake and spend a lot of time down in Black Duck Bay which is very weedy but has lots of spots along the shoreline but again be careful there are lots of rocks and many are not marked. Not sure where you are launching from there are lots of resorts and they should be able to help you out. If you have any more info maybe I can suggest something else. Good Luck Kawartha Kev
  12. Not sure you may want to try submitting your photo to this site Space Weather or have a look around the site I have seen some weird stuff on it and they have a guy I think Wes Cowley who explains these strange phenomena. Kawartha Kev
  13. Thanks Johnny Bass but as I said they are not the greatest photos and they are all of the same fish so it can be a little deceiving. It is not my largest caught on Lower Buckhorn but was a good one as I estimated, I have caught a 22" monster smallmouth but it was not real fat and was close to 4 lb. but I didn't have the camera with me. Kawartha Kev
  14. Its been a while since I have taken some photos. Here are a couple taken this week from my cottage on Lower Buckhorn lake. Enjoy!! Kawartha Kev
  15. Here are the photos not the greatest but hope you get the idea And a couple sunsets to finish off the day of fishing
  16. Well another 2 days at the cottage comes to an end. It sucks that I have to work weekends but it does have the benefit of little boat traffic on the lake during the week the only boats I saw the last couple of days were mainly houseboats and the occasional cruiser as well as the O.P.P. boat. As far as the fishing goes it was pretty tough with the high winds and I was not able to find any of my adversaries the mighty muskie but I did tangle with several bass both smallmouth and largemouth. The best of them was a large smallmouth in the 18" range around 3-3.5 lb. I didn't actually weigh or measure it but I think it was a good estimate. I tried to take photos but I was fishing alone and they did not really turn out very well but if there is an interest I will post them at a later date. The fight was a good one with several good jumps and runs lots of fun. The lake was very high and I was fishing rocky shorelines using a #5 Blue Fox Bucktail black with a silver blade. Kawartha Kev
  17. Hope and pray for the best. LOL!!! P.S. That is actually a church in the background!!! Kawartha Kev
  18. Most definitely mealybugs it may be more trouble than it is worth to try and save the plant probably better off in the long run to get rid of the infected plants. A small infection can be dealt with by removing the bugs and their white mess they create and treat the plant with an insectide like Safers soap but you have a major infestation and the plant has been damaged significantly and may not recover anyway. Factor in the cost of the chemicals, the time it will take to cure it and the fact that those plants aren't rare or very expensive and I say your best solution is to throw them out along with all the soil and pots to make sure they don't spread to any other plants they will attack many types. 21. Great viewing of the eclipse here in Toronto here are my best shots with a point and shoot Nikon coolpix also. Biggest problem was the fact that the eclipse occurred so high in the sky that there is no real referance points. Oh well hope you enjoy the pics Kawartha Kev
  22. Thanks for the reminder I'll be out for a look and maybe try some pics but my camera is not really good enough to get great pics but I'll try if the weather cooperates. Kawartha Kev
  23. I saw a topic about the fishing show and who was going and wondered what the reviews were. How did it compare to the old fishing show that used to go on at the international center or to the Sportsman's show at the trade center. Was considering going on the weekend if it was worth the trip out. Any thoughts anybody? Kawartha Kev
