  1. Some great shots there Brandon love the one of the mossy tree great lighting. Not sure if you were joking about standing on that stump but it sure does look huge although a little tough to judge the size without something to compare it with. I remember a park near my sisters place in Surrey that had trees covered in moss like the one you photographed wish I had taken photos of them when I was there. I think it is called Green Timbers if I recall one of the public city parks I think or maybe provincial. Keep the photos coming!! Kevin
  2. Very nice as usual Brandon. Looks like you took the shot from somewhere up along the North Shore care to elaborate on where you took it from? Kevin
  3. Can't wait to see some more of your aerial shots. By any chance if you are up the Kawartha's way I would enjoy a photo of the Lower Buckhorn lake I have a cottage on it and there is a guy who occasionally lands his small float plane on the main lake and taxis into my part of the lake. Kawartha Kev
  4. I'm not gonna touch that LOL!!!!!! Nice camera set-up by the look of it now just make sure the pictures are clean!!! LOL!!! Kawartha Kev
  5. Nice shots Dan looks like your getting some colour to the landscape up there. Kawartha Kev
  6. What you have there Brandon from the look of the photo is an Amanita muscaria specimen and from what I have heard it has been described anywhere from poisonous to deadly poisonous to hallucinogenic and I would not suggest trying it out to find out the hard way. Nice photo by the way. Kev
  7. With the help of you guys especially Brandon, DanC and Deano I have gotten better with my waterfall shots. I think one of the best suggestions you guys had was the time to take shots at dawn or dusk. Although I have not tried the dawn shots yet; who gets up that early anyway LOL!!!; I did a lot of dusk shots up to almost 8:00 PM in almost complete darkness yet with the long exposures of 4 to 8 secs. the photos turned out great and with a little editing even more so. So without further adieu here are a few of my favorites hope you enjoy them as much as I had creating them. Enjoy Kawartha Kev
  8. I also do edit most of my photos also although nothing too major. I find no matter what I do taking shots my camera tends to overexpose the picture most of the time so I usually adjust the contrast and darken the lighting a bit. Here is an example of my original and edited photo. Original Edited version Kawartha Kev
  9. I think I see a rabbit in there Brandon. LOL!!! Great shot as usual. Kev
  10. Great shot Brandon suitable for framing over the mantle. Keep them coming! Kev
  11. Thanks Brandon I wish I could have slowed the pictures down even more but when I did the pictures were totally overexposed and useless. Most of my good pics were in the 1/8 to 1/4 sec. range I couldn't get anything to work in the 2 to 6 sec range you were mentioning. I think the longest I got that was kind of good was a 1 sec. exposure. I think part of the problem is the camera seems to be limited to a f-stop of 13.4 I would like to go to a 22. I also noticed I could only get the 13.4 if I zoomed in. If I did a wide shot it was more like a 7.6 f-stop and the exposure I could only get to about 1/8 of a sec. which would not really produce the silky effect very well. Oh well I guess I'll keep trying. Thanks Kawartha Kev
  12. Well I wanted to learn how to do those silky smooth waterfall shots so I tried today at work with the little waterfall we have in Edwards Gardens not overly picturesque but good for practice. Here are a few of my better ones let me know what I did right or wrong I want to learn from the best and you guys are great!! Thanks Kawartha Kev
  13. That sounds like an interesting experiment Deano. I just tried a little experiment of my own with my aquarium aerator with some modest success with the air bubbles looking kind of smooth. Looks like I need a lot of practice as far as the experiment you suggested that could get expensive for me as a beginner lots of water down the drain LOL!!!! Thanks for the idea Kawartha Kev
  14. Thanks Brandon I have a small waterfall at work and will see if I can get something to work in the 2 to 6 sec. range. Dan thanks also for the input unfortunately my little point and shoot camera can't make use of any filters. Kawartha Kev
  15. I love the shots with the nice soft effect to moving water in a waterfall or a running river but have never been able to capture that effect can anyone suggest camera settings such as speed and aperature to achive that effect? I know it will have many other variables especially the light levels but maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I tend to use the auto exposure in my point and shoot digital camera which gives a sharp clear image but I think I can do some manual settings but may be limited to only a couple aperatures, oh for my old SLR camera too bad film is so expensive. Thanks for any help Kawartha Kev
  16. Here's one of my favorites from a couple years back Enjoy Kawartha Kev
  17. Too bad about all the people hope you get back did you see the giant fir? By the way when I say "suspension" bridge it is not really a big cabled bridge like the Capilano Bridge its more like a foot bridge and having reviewed the trail map I think it might have been just below the fish hatchery and it might be called the pipeline bridge. Anyway hope you got some photos keep posting I enjoy them all even from places I haven't been to. Kawartha Kev
  18. Heres a link to the Capilano River Valley trails. Check out the trail map to get your bearings. The bridge I am talking about is north of the fish hatchery and south of Cleveland dam not far from the giant fir tree if I recall. Good Luck!! Heres the link http://www.gvrd.bc.ca/parks/CapilanoRiver.htm Kawartha Kev
  19. Let's try it this way I think I have it now
  20. That makes me feel better!!! Thats how I want my photo to appear how did you get it to that size Zib? Kawartha Kev
  21. Here's a bit better picture having a little trouble with the sizing. Kawartha Kev
  22. You guys are killing me!! At least there is no picture of me in the photo as I was fishing alone. The bucktail is almost half the size of the fish. Oh the shame!!! Enjoy!!! LOL Kawartha Kev
  23. Well I spent a couple of days at the cottage last week mostly doing work on the cottage but did manage to get out for a couple hours of fishing. I have been reading a lot of reports of low water levels the last while but no such problem on Lower Buckhorn as the levels were several inches above normal. As far as the fishing went I was targeting muskies and managed to catch one small one maybe 18" long, does that even count? Anyway it was a nice couple days but got blown off the lake on Friday by strong winds. I do have a pic of the little muskie but am embarrassed to post it but if you really want to see it let me know and maybe I'll get up the courage to post it LOL!!! Kawartha Kev
  24. Hey Brandon The Capilano Suspension bridge and Grouse Mountain are touristy places but the 2 times I hiked the trail up from the Suspension bridge to Cleveland Dam I saw very few people and the trail system was great and the giant fur tree has to be seen to be believed. I don't know if you checked out the photos from Capilano in my albums but the photos of that giant fur tree don't do it justice. Keep the photos coming!! Thanks Kawartha Kev P.S. There is a small "suspension" bridge along the Capilano trail up to Cleveland dam I don't think I shot any photos from it and the fish hatchery is an interesting place to visit. Enjoy!!
  25. Just saw some of your other topics with photos from B.C. great stuff. Check out my photo site it has lots of photos from around B.C. my favorite area by far is the North Shore especially Capilano and Grouse Mountain. The hike through the Capilano Valley is great and the Capilano Suspension Bridge is amazing and the views from Grouse Mountain are spectacular in the spring never been there in the winter. Anyway here is my photo site if you are interested. Enjoy Kawartha Kev http://www.flickr.com/photos/kawkev/
