  1. Thanks. I had never heard of farming for eels on the St-Lawrence. I knew about the commercial fishery but not farming. Makes you wonder where all the eels in sushi shops in Ott-Mtl-Tor come from. Worth reading into.
  2. Gold! Little did they know they were in a boat with a much better fisherman. I just take a lot of pics and vids.
  3. Ha ha. I showed these pics to my neighbour when I got home last night and he said pretty much the exact same thing. Right down to calling me aquaman. You're going to have a blast fishing with Mike next week my friend. Enjoy!
  4. On our side of the dam Mike? Or up near Long-Sault you mean? Nice to see you out there Saturday. I had a much better day Sunday btw. And yeah snorkeling my spots is something I try and do pretty often. Use all the electronic or paper maps you want there is nothing like the real thing to pinpoint where the eyes are holding on structure. It's hard though with the current. You need someone in the boat to follow you unless the spot is small. I tend to not like venturing too far from the boat in the current especially on the weekend with the other boaters out there.
  5. Yes sir, It sure is. I used to see them everywhere. When I was a kid they'd show up by the hundreds in the shallows at night. I saw one coiled up like a cobra once in 2 inches of water in a boat ramp. They were all over the place. Definitely dropped in numbers dramatically. I've heard anything from damming to over-fishing to disease as far as explanations go. But one thing is for sure they are in trouble whatever the reason(s) may be. Now it's pike that seem to be dwindling in numbers in the area. You used to catch pike everywhere here but now they're rare. Walleyes and bass are doing just fine though it seems.
  6. Yeah they school up together. The pics don't do it justice there were a lot more. I'd guess at least 15-20. Also I can only see so far I was on a sharp ledge that drops into 50 feet and fish were everywhere from 5-10 feet to as far as I could see so like 30 feet or so. Really cool to swim with them in the current. I definitely need to get my scuba license.
  7. Hey guys, Hope everyone is doing well. Thought I'd share something a little different. Although I do love catching fish I get a kick out of putting on a mask and getting down there up close and personal with them. Keep in mind it's not easy especially considering I'm usually in strong current and about 20 feet down so the pictures aren't National Geographic quality but you get the idea. The one where the little walleye is staring at the camera came out pretty well though. I must have been 3-4 inches from his snout at one point. Curious little fella. Anyway, hope you enjoy! Oh and I threw in a couple of nice ones I put in the boat from last weekend and one yesterday for good measure. The first is 6.1lbs, the second 7lbs, which is my personal best so far this year.
  8. Agreed. I was going to say Becks is the best one I've had. It's actually 0% also if I recall.
  9. Ha ha. Hey they have to love you for something right?
  10. Hey look at that two b-day threads. That's what I call love.
  11. Holy jumpin those are some beautiful fish. Really cool that you caught that jumbo walleye on a jerkbait that must have been quite the rush. One of the nicest walleye pics I've seen in a long time. Can't get over how dark its colours are. Great stuff congrats.
  12. Hum....Not true for any of the walleyes I've met in my life. To me a walleye is a walleye north or south I don't know. I used to pull spinners with nightcrawlers a lot and since the Gobies took over I switched to 4 inch gulp minnows. Now I probably wouldn't go back to worms even if the Gobies were gone. I took a trip up to Nipissing a couple years back and hammered walleyes on quarter ounce jigs and gulp minnows so it works "up north" too. Like others mentioned if I were a betting man I'd say they don't want you using them up there for whatever reason.
  13. Interesting. Thanks I might look into something like this for mine.
  14. Cool! I think that's the first time I see or hear of a carp through the ice. Sorry if that's common I'm not much of an ice fisherman. ha ha. I have never seen that.
  15. It looks great. Really decent resolution. I paid twice that for mine a few years back and it's black and white and doesn't record.
  16. Nice. Love seeing underwater footage. Is that an aqua-view?
  17. For me hands down - This guy Honorable mention to my first walleye (under the 401 bridge in the raisin on a perch pattern original floater when I was 12), and my first musky (off the crab on a worm harness)
  18. I can't really help you for the the lower French but I know for sure the upper French river near Dokis is all mapped out on the Navionics chip.
  19. Ahhhhh.....That's what that was! You had me scratching my head a bit ha ha. I thought it was an antenna or pole for a parasol or something.
  20. Man would I love to fish Great Slave one day. Looks like paradise up there. Nice close up shots of the lakers the colours came out great.
  21. Hey that's awesome. Small world on the Interweb Thanks!
