fished the kawarthas for many yrs have watched stocks dwindle with slot sizes and reduced numbers to keep have seen lakes start to bounce back.. the first lakes to show an increase in stocks where the lakes that had slots introduced early its not the slots that helped imo its the fact that people no longer fished those lakes because of size limits therefore slow the harvest and you'll increase the populations -

stocking not the answer imo look at the whole picture...the oceans for example...tell me its not overfishing that's the problem the more u put in the more they will take in Ontario lakes -
I think not quite ready I know a guy who has some special jigs being made...lol
-
have fished that basin for years had a previous owner call police on me for fishing boat slips police informed marina that water was not owned and unless I caused damage to property then I had a legal right to fish there
-
no sense..in trying to tell people the facts.. no matter slots limits etc.. if you don"t have the means to police the laws then what does it matter.. we are talking small areas lakes etc.. i use the NFLD fisheries as an example of whats to come..NO COD FISHERY!. could not police the non canadian vessels so newfoundlanders had a lively hood taken away.. IMO.. a total stop on keeping fish is the answer to your problem..

spend alot of time jerking spoons on steel...have found on most lakes in the minden/haliburton area most our big fish come off flats 20-30 feet water...lots of nimbers in 30-50 feet but usually smaller here it a experment for you....big fat salty tubes white/pearl dragged and jigged...might be surprised how many you catch and how big..well done go gettem
-
still quite few lake trout..fish it cpl times a yr with steel line.. trouble is catching the 1's you can keep...slot sizes..smallies are plentiful..
-
take it from someone with a neck broke in 2 locations...do NOT tow a tube behind a bass boat..the speed it takes to plane a bassboat can be way too much for a tube speeds reached when turning easily lauches a tube coming off at those speeds cause major injuries no more than 20 mph is recommend... sorry if i sound against it.....i'm not ..but pls be careful..
-

i challenge all those skeptic to get out to a live release tourn... educate yourselves..see the care taken by most anglers and tournament officials to assure the fish get back in the water alive live release organizations are those looking out for the future of our fisheries imagine NO fish left if you keep all you catch and more...dont beliieve? then why the keep limits less and a slot size to boot..this don't come about from people letting them go! -
