  1. when your talking rice lake just use your eyes ..find weedbeds or rocks near points...trolling is not great there too many weeds..jig weed edges in morn move deeper into beds during day live bait works but tough to use where i fish on this body of water

  3. FOR WHAT ITS WORTH I SPOOL MY REELS WITH BRAID. WHEN SHORT FLIPS I PULL OFF 50 FT OF LINE COVER THE REST OF SPOOL WITH ELECTRICAL TAPE THEN WIND LINE BACK IN FIND IT REDUCES TANGLE GREATLY CAN DO THE SAME JOINING MONO OR FLORO TO BRAID COVER KNOT IN SPOOL WITH TAPE WIND ON WHAT U NEED AND GOOD TO GO
  4. waleye is tough right now look for deep weeds east and west of old rail bed they are approx. 1 ft off bottom in 14'+ of water.. eyes are stacked when you find them u picked 1 of the toughest lakes in the area for skies however have caught a few up the river near shallow bays good fishing

  6. fishfinders dont find fish usually depth , structure and knowledge of the area work better as well as knowledge of the species you are probably equipped enough already ...gps is great if you are in waters where you cant see shore...otherwise local lake maps are cheaper and quite often more informative just my opinoin based on 40yrs expereance
  7. at 1 time my priorty for a trip was to catch fish in the last few yrs i have had the honor and privlege to take out various people with less access hearing impaired,blind,physically handicapped through these experinces and my ageing i have come to realise that i am lucky to have the ability and the resources to fish at any time so enjoy the whole experiance cause some is wishing they could get out there.. yes catching fish is not hard its not always quality or quantity that matters.....check out some of the smiles in pics of perch ,crappy or at times even the bait on a hook please try and enjoy your outings,don,t complain about not catching
  8. on my first outing this yr things began great for me..boat started fish biting then it happened about to change locations i went to pull up elec. bang string broke launching me overboard no big deal just water,however the anchor ( wife) broke out in a fit of laughter, new cell phone ooopppppsss!!!! wallet dang try to get back aboard in workboots ,,,more laughter.... back aboards pull clothes off to dry uh ohhh major sunburn .. ah heck we are out in nature good day oh yes did i mention flat trailer tire on drive home...no trouble put on the spare ooopppps its flat tooo MAN WHAT A FUN DAY...AGAIN I WAS OUT OF HOUSE AND LOVING NATURE
  9. fished the french a few times fish like humans are not adverse to shade area look for deep holes,,rock pile weeds even lumber can be super productive... my favorite time to fish is when the sun is high in the sky,, they will congregate in small areas and can be easy and numerous to catch

  14. hi i'm new to this site and would just like to say hello i've been fishing the kawarthas for 40 yrs . no 1 lake in particular like to fish for any species in season.... when not in the boat i like to raise my beagles and shoot archery
