Congratulations! I wish you much success and a bright future in the education field. I know a 30 something year old young lady who is more than qualified but has not had the good fortune that you are enjoying finding a teaching job. But then, she just maybe a little too particular about where she wants to be or live.

That is amazing Cliff, I am glad that you were able to get Sue into the T.O hospital for treatment. A little slip in the doctor's procedures of not doing the paperwork is an example of how easily things can go wrong. Luckily this was discovered as the result of your phone call. I think we all have a tendency to put our trust in others and to let some things slide with hope the problems will take care of themselves. I was up to the hospital to see him in the afternoon on Wednesday and assisted him to eat his lunch and shared a treasured moment as I was leaving. That evening my wife and I went back for a visit. A couple of the comments he made were: To my wife, "Psst." Pat said "What?" He whispered, "You know, I'm dying." So what does one reply? I or she had no reply. Then after a while Pat asked him if he wanted something other than water to drink. He asked "What?" She mentioned pop, He hollered "Pop!!" she said no, juice? He said "Coke-a-cola!!!" What are you trying to do? Kill me!" Amazing, there was no hope for him and he was concerned about drinking something as unhealthy as Coke. Take care everyone.

A close buddy faded away this afternoon with his wife and family by his side. A friend who was like a brother that I have known for at least 34 years had to give into Non Hogdkins Lymphoma (SP?) a cancer that ate away at him over the last several months. I post this not for a shoulder to cry on. I am posting because of the initial disregard that Jerry received when he first complained about a severe pain in his upper back which was treated with Tylenol 3 and other pain killers on each of his 9 trips (all in less than a month) to either Joseph Brant Emergency or to his own family doctor. On his last trip to ER he was taken in on a wheel chair, unable to walk and had lost bowl control, bladder control and the use of his legs. It was at this time that they took him serious and did a cat scan finding something out of place on his spine and sent him into the Hamilton General Hospital. Here he received surgery and confirmation of his cancer. He was also told that if the ER staff had paid more attention on his 1st visit he would have had a very, very good chance for survival. At this point, after the 1st surgery, they gave him a 50% chance and virtually none to walk again. Later his chance was reduced to 10% and just this Monday he was given 1 week to 2 months to live. This all began in March, today about 4 months after it all began he has passed away at the Hamilton Henderson Hospital leaving behind a wife and 3 children, the youngest still in High School. Although his care and treatment were superb after the diagnosis it still cannot make up for the treatment he first received. I have to tell all who reads this that if something like this should happen to you or someone you know pay attention to it, don't ignore it and push the medical professionals with all you can to have all possibilities checked out. As an additional note this is a guy who ate well, hadn't smoked for years, gave up all alcohol and was fit. He however worked at Stelco for about 30 or so years just retiring less than 2 years ago. Maybe this played a factor? Who knows for sure? There are several board members on OFC that worked at or do work at Stelco in Hamilton. If you think you know Jerry that worked in the Metallurgical Department, primarily in #1 Bar Mill, the Rod Mill or the former 12-10 Mill you can send me a PM for any other information or about his funeral arrangements. Prior to his time at Stelco Jerry worked in the offices at Dofasco (1971, 1972 or about) He graduated from Burlington's M.M. Robinson High School. Be safe and healthy everyone.

My apology, I don't know why I thought you mentioned it was a free launch. I hope this works out well for him.
-
Ya git what ya pay for! Free launches are free for a reason, I scratched up a new boat 2nd time I launched at a free ramp. Stupid steel posts along side it did the job, luckily it was minor and only required some touch up paint. The city/town probably has a sign posted near the ramp stating "Use at your own risk." Many private ones state the same too.

Looks like a nice place to fish. Congratulations to your girlfriend for her PB bass.

What a great day on the water! And I have the sunburned arms and face to show for it! Looked in the mirror when I got home and I thought a raccoon was looking back at me! White around the eyes from sunglasses and red everywhere else. Guess next time the sunscreen goes on the face! It was a fantastic day on the river and the big lake with FishnNAutographs...I knew karma was eventually going to come and pay a visit, that was hilarious watching you handle that catfish! You really had him hooked good! That eye looks great dressed and on the plate. Hope the meal was as a delicious as it looks. We'll have to get back out on the water again soon.

This is a good board, sure not all topics are fishing related but I and many others don't see a problem with that. Although my post count and membership status don't show my true count as to how many posts I have made or contributed it is in reality in the thousands! and I have been kicking around here since about 1999 or 2000. I was just to lazy to contact a moderator to have my post count and status updated the last couple of times the board made changes or switched locations, or whatever happened. Sometimes members don't bother to post their fishing exploits because not all fishing expeditions are a success and who really wants to hear or read about nothing? So not all posts are what you expect, big deal! As for your concern about Lakair or BOQ GTG posts don't sweat it! Enjoy the pictures and do what I do when I read them and that is wish you were there! I have never had the good fortune or opportunity to go to one, but who knows? Maybe I will be able to get there next time and likewise for you.

PIKEHUNTER YOU HAVE A PM.....
pikehunter replied to fishing n autograph's topic in General Discussion
Yep! Just got it At work all day today and just finished supper. Now you have a PM. -
Asked myself the same question more then once. Conclusion: Sometimes you just can't locate the answer to the question in the regs book, it may be there...somewhere so the poster of a question gives up and asks the question on OFC. So what better place to ask than here?

Ironic, isn't it?! Misfish, '69 Dodge Coronet! Nice! Betcha wish you could have that car again.

Anyone goin' fishin in the next few days????
pikehunter replied to fishing n autograph's topic in General Discussion
Could be a day next week that may work. I work this afternoon and again tomorrow I go in at 1pm but my wife has the day off and just may have something up her sleeve. I'll PM you with my day(s) open. We can hit somewhere nearby, Lower Grand? As one day doesn't allow much time to travel far off the beaten path. Or if you have a suggestion... Talk soon, Harry -
Anyone goin' fishin in the next few days????

Hey, where were you yesterday? I wanted to go fishing but the wind kept me home. I even had the trailer all hooked up to the van and it started to get real gusty so I unhooked everything and spent the day at home washing and waxing the boat instead and even washed the van too! But now the boat's so shiny I hate to get it wet I often have weekdays off and do like to hit the water on the then when it is less crowded. My family is usually off at work or school and some companionship would be good plus cost sharing and some added bow weight is always appreciated to help offset all the tonnage at the stern -
Aliens, that's what it was, Aliens! Or maybe all the pressure from being a cop has got you, time to take a fishing trip.

Hope you and your mom enjoyed the meal and don't take his comment personally. Was the idiot telling you this also fishing? If not then maybe he was just another animal rights nut. Keep on fishing and don't let kooks like him get you down. ( Kook, now theres a word I don't here much anymore )

Although I should keep my mouth shut I got to step in and say a couple things. This is a good learning experience for you and will make you a better driver. When you do finally get your "G" you will appreciate it and realize that a drivers license is not a right but something you earn and work hard to keep. I just wish that so many other drivers would make this realization and then perhaps the roads will be a safer place to be. On behalf of PH Jr I must say that he is a decent driver who has been driving pretty much daily from Hamilton to Burlington since he got his first level of drivers license (G1 ? G2? I can't figure this new system out) You probably did make some of the little errors which resulted in the failure and don't realize it because as we all get more time behind the wheel we do become more complacent and get a little too relaxed at safety, if this weren't true then there wouldn't be any accidents. That also said I must say that I feel more comfortable as a passenger with PHJR behind the wheel then his mother (now I went and did it ) The important thing to remember about this life lesson is that every once in a while we all get pulled down from our high horse and it helps one become stronger. Now that you've just turned 18 get out there and get your fishing license so you can go fishing! To heck with the car!!!! so we can read a fishing report!!!

Hope the surgery helps your trigger finger problem. I have been told by my orthopedic doctor that a cortisone injection in the finger is quite painful, at least that is what he told me when I went to see him about one for my 2 trigger fingers so I walked away to try and live with it. Somedays they are really bad, especially in the morning. But you probably know this for fact after 3 shots! Best of luck Joe.

I have a 25hp on a 16' hull rated at 30hp max. Pushes it along fine with 2 huge guys in it. 12.5 litres will last about 4-5 1/2 hours of trolling and the occasional full throttle and 3/4 throttle run.
-
Grimace, very glad to hear that your exceptional experience turned out positive. That is great customer service that could lead to more sales for the dealer and Lowe. Barg, I believe Crestliner and Lowe hulls are the same on most if not all models.

They will or should let you in with your boat. I know Valens will. Keep the motor up out of the water and if you have a separate/removable gas tank leave it at home. Use the electric and you will be fine.
-
I am not surprised nor am I impressed. There are too many manufacturers out there anyway all going after the same customer. There are going to be more and more shakedowns like this to come, best fuel to fight it is not to read the papers or watch the news as they keep adding lighter fluid to the fire.

outboard recomendation between 8 and 9.9 hp
pikehunter replied to issamhay's topic in General Discussion
That's gotta be a misprint, you must have meant $1849, at least. If you're buying new all of them are decent, get the best price from a reliable dealer. If used, then go over the motor carefully, do the usual checks that have been spoke of here on the board a hundred times and check that the serial numbers are still on it. Too many hot 9.9's around. -
I have trouble tying a uni, probably due to the fact that my close up vision isn't what it once was and the fact that I have very little sensation in my finger tips and my hands just don't work that well anymore. nerve compression damage!

Doves don't laugh, but pigeons do! Man can they get histaric, they do, they really do! Honest!

I would just like to know why it makes a difference to some people that the monetary value of a boat makes a difference? If I was to get a nick in my tinnies paint from a careless fisherman I would be just as ticked off as the guy who is in debt up to his wazoo for a half million dollar canoe! Value doesn't make a difference! Just use some common sense when fishing around anyone's personal property and there isn't a problem. Respect is all it takes. If fisherfolk disrespect then see how long it takes for the rules or laws to change.
