  1. I just meant - wouldn't wanna take on too much machine gun fire in one lol
  2. surely your rod cost more than this - http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/5/SportsRec/Fishing/Downriggers/PRDOVR~0784367P/Powerlock+Rod+Holder+for+Downriggers.jsp?locale=en
  3. brave man then- and even braver now , knowing now, how poorly those things were constructed and still hoping in there like a champ. the whole world thanks him and all his "brothers"
  4. FishLogic --> I could use a new boat just sayin...
  5. I've bought a few of the frogs and had some luck, with minimal use- I'm now on to the mice lol - but know how u feel - just renewing my lic. Every year usually costs me a cool 200 in other "must haves"
  6. when did it leave ? I was there in April (maybe late march) and they were still there, gawd I sure hope not ) not sure why it would leave, had to be the best money maker in the whole lot ! lol - but I'm pretty sure you're out of luck Sunday anyways. (only open thurs and sats) if I remember correctly.
  7. it's been in "full swing" for a while now, I'm pretty sure the indoor parts are year round but could be wrong. (not sure if all the produce is local yet or not due to grow seasons etc. but all still very good). The ol lady and I go all the time for steaks, summer sausage, and to look around but ALWAYS stop for apple fritters (worth the line for sure) - Frank, is the Sweater vendor that u are talking about the one that sells the Alpaca wool sweaters ? I would have to agree with you if you are. Washed mine numerous times and still the softest thing I have felt - errr as far as clothing goes
  8. well then lets hope they don't get em all before "the fall" when they suggest they will be garlic butter worthy. The article said "after consuming local vegetation" - is this because the stocked fish are feed pellets ? (might be a silly question just curious) I plan on releasing most if not all I catch anyways, I'm about a 95% CPR kinda guy myself (catch, photo, release)
  9. So I read in the Haliburton Echo, the MNR have stocked Kashagawigamog with 1500 Kingscote and Killala lakers !! (here's the link - http://www.haliburtonecho.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3570327 ) this is great, as if I wasn't anxious enough to get back up there on a regular basis with my "new" trailer, and "new" boat, but now, this just makes me giddy. Even more excited that they are "mature" and thus increasing their chances at survival and (fingers crossed) breeding .
  10. uhh, some might consider asking the experienced ones, such as the people on the forums, as "research" but I could be wrong
  11. any recommendations on marine batteries I should look into ? (Keep in mind I have to keep this whole boat project on low budget with a little one expected in the fall and to not upset mother bear). I don't need one for electric start, just one to run my finder, and some lights ? I'm hoping to keep within a 75-130 range. the finder I found out is not the pro just the basic 5x,1600w ptp 200w rms. requirement 10-18 volts dc (current drain of .25A and i know i need to pick up a 3 A auto fuse.... any ideas ?
  12. ok then ignore my rants then lol - but not all of them, or I fear I may resort back to lurking
  13. As a rangers fan - I feel obligated to hope the devils take it, least then I can say "beaten by the best" - now, realistically, I think the Kings got it- only team that's been clean all the way thru.
  14. but if I'm RIGHT , than are you not admitting to have lurked yourself ? jk
  15. I have to ask... is this topic a result of my topic i posted about my new fishfinder, and asking why I had 105 views and no comments ? And I will admit, I have lurked for a while _ but will add it is only because as a new member, I had posted a few questions and got little help, negative feed back etc. so I was discouraged, and have kinda sat back. But now, with my new boat, trailer back in the highlands etc. I look forward to posting some nice reports (that I know we all get off on), and taking advantage of the full benefits this forum can offer by.. maybe becoming a "regular" ?? - and well, if I am wrong as to my thoughts on as to why this topic was brought up - I will chalk this up as another case of myown Larry David-esc paranoia as a result of too much times "in the bush"
  16. Are they fighting or gettin it on ? kinda looks like me and the mrs. fighting and "making up" all at the same time .. cool video for sure though
  17. I should also point out that depth is really the second use I have for it, fish curves being number one of course
  18. yup sensitivity, colorline, surface clarity, ping rate - in spite of the bad reviews I really look forward to getting back up there now with this new toy and with a little luck, being able to post some great reports (I know u all LOVE those )
  19. gotta remember that one next time I'm fillin up the truck
  20. I grew up fishing for bass and eyes on the same lake with a fair amount of success even before I got into the sport "religiously" , but I want to track down the 'skis.. I'm told they are down the end closer to Haliburton (where I managed to catch my only ever musky while pitching into the weeds in the narrows near the beer store (to those familiar with the waters) (I might point out it was a mere 22" - but of course later that day it was 40 lol). So as I said before I'm really hoping to be using it for depth and (with a little luck- structure- wanna find those wind swept points with the "steps" etc)
  21. I was originally going in for the humminbird 570 that they had on sale. But I went in the last day of the sale and wouldn't you know it, sold out. So ya after all the gift cards, I suppose regardless of how it works out for me, I can't really complain. (only ran my $26 - the taxes on the 199.oo unit) . I basically plan on using it for figuring out depths so I can plan my attack accordingly. (** I also found out the temp sensor was sold individually ** ) After all, those 5 lakes have a lot of water to cover in a tin can and would be nearly impossible to figure out with out knowing what I'm fishing in as far as depth lol. -- on another side note, anyone looking to get rid of a 8 - 9.9 hp motor ? I found one on kijunky that they said they would hold for me, only to turn around and sell it over the long weekend before i could pick it up (beer money maybe? ) im in Kitchener, but travel up Haliburton way regularly so would consider making a detour if a nice offer came my way ?
  22. uh oh.... from the BPS reviews, it looks like I should have held on to a few more of those gift cards
  23. ya sorry, I guess I should have specified, its the "pro" but good call checking BPS, can't believe I never thought of looking there
  24. come on guys (and girls), 105 views and not a one of you have a review for me ?
