Toad Hunter replied to Toad Hunter's topic in General Discussion
Thanx garnet, ya I tried messing with the dial a little yesterday thinking that it might have been pooling after long trolls, and a little more today, seems to be a little better but was affraid to have it full throtle (as that's when I notice the problem most) and ruin my buddies motor (even worse) -
motor trouble killing my bass opener week !
Toad Hunter replied to Toad Hunter's topic in General Discussion
Thanx guys, I'll check the marina with the morning fill up, but uhh rookie question but do I add to fuel or spray in engine area ? - parden my total ignorance in the small engine dept lol -
So I've had to borrow my buddy's (say- mid 80s?) 8 hp evinrude for my trip on K-mog and had found when first going into high speed, it seems to do a "chug" or " thud" at the most random times, first day (b4 I was rained out) it wasn't so bad and seemed to almost stop after 2 or 3 random chugs, but now after trolling the past 2 days, it seems worse, I'm thinking maybe pooling ? But I'm no expert so I'm lookin for advice- too much water to be limited to 1-3 kms/h please any ideas would be much appreciated - I can take comfort in knowin it happened a few times when I was out with him last year so I know It was not my doing. Just curious because he told me he had it tuned up in the spring and they looked into it but no results (due to total random occurancy) thanx again for any tips

Lol I wish , I'm leaving at 6 am tomorrow (work until midnite tonite)
-
Ya, I had to read it a couple of times before I got what he meant too lol
-
Perhaps after my report your tricks will be a good trade
-
Come on dave, everyone has a price ? Lol ya Rick - know where you're talkin about I''ve fished the narrows there many times that's my " top water go to" place
-
Never thot of that (I'm not good with this whole interweb nonsense lol)

thanx everyone, I've looked at those maps too, but would like something infront of me that I can write on etc. I've also google earthed some nice shoals, humps and ledges too, some I knew of, some I have jusyt discovered. but looking forward to hitting them all as much as I can. I hope to get some musky fishing in, since the only one I have landed (in my life) was by accident, while pitching into the weeds approaching the narrows towards Haliburton. And haven't really targeted them before, but have plenty of "pike gear" that I hope will do the trick. I'm just hoping for some nice bass -and some eyes for the pan. (if I decide to keep any) - would be a cruel thing to put my pregger wife through (as she cant eat fish right now do to possible mercury levels, and is a newfie - ) I'm usually a CPR guy myself anyways (catch photo release).

dontcry -> be on the look out for a black tin rocket with the captin doing the cobra (from G.I joe) battle cry (Coooobraaaaaaa!!!) (I've painted my boat black with the Cobra logo and all, and named it "Destro" (ya thats my inner nerd lol)

thanx for the tip. Well weather permitting, I believe I have all the right "tools" I just want the map to help make easy work for my electronics. I might also add that I haven't fished this lake in over 10 years *after spending my summers there from fetus stages until I was 18* so I just hope my hot spots still pan out for me and with the knowledge I have stock piled over the years since will come in handy (see what I did there, I've already made up my 2 excuses for if things go sour)

(side note) does anyone know if the MNR in Minden still sells topo maps (or depth charts)
-
well everyone, I've been lingering around on this site long enough, and have the week off as of Friday at mid nite (convenient timing ). And will be finally getting my boat up to Kashagawigamog. I hope I haven't tricked too many of you into reading this expecting THIS to be my report - just a heads up for what I hope to be one epic tale of tight lines and loads of pics. (provided the jerks at weather network are lieing to me as far as the long term trend )
-
But I agree with some of the ones that bit the sinking pitchin jigs, they were smaller than I'd like but would have still been nice to land em on the top waters
-
I've had luck pitchin assorted soft platics of the bug or craw variety right behind my missed hook sets- guess I fool them into thinkin they've wounded my frog- regardless of the different appearence
-
I'm itchin to try the live target field mice I've picked up, had some nice blow ups with the hollow body frogs last year but foolishly set the hook to fast
-
This time of year makes me giddy- like -gr. 7 about to be off for the "whoooole summer" kinda giddy
-
and now I can hit my honey hole on the Grand through the weeks that I am on the "noons" shift too
-
Kashagawigamog of course ! I'll be fishing for just about anything at this point as it will be the first weekend I will get the boat up there, after my "reno" project and finally having the new trailer and deck all set up to my standards. -and now will not have to worry about pesky OOS fish
-
Not sure how many have tried this, I only heard of it last year.. But crushing up all dressed chips to add to the "crisp" - was a nice twist
-
Simply amazing ! Shorter as it may be I can't wait for part 2
-
I must agree that this is ridiculous , and if it's a cultural thing, well.. I'm not even going to start on THAT whole topic, or the christmas thing for that matter, but perhaps rather than attempting to educate the millions of people that may not be aware of the dangers they can cause be doing this... simply ban the selling of live fish at supermarkets:sarcasm: ? (I mean, if they can ban plastic bags.. )
-
well then here's hoping lol

lots of thunder and dark clouds with inevitable winds, and flash rain but seems to have blown over(ish) for now in Kitchener. - can anyone in the Haliburton and surrounding area keep me posted- I have a new (ish ) trailer up there and have yet to fill out the insurance papers
