Dave, it was a pleasure and a lot of fun working(fishing) with you this past year. I wish you the best in your next venture and look forward to fishing with you down the road. For those who have not had the chance to meet Dave, he is a stand up man and a great angler. Your friend, Bob

I don't own one but get to fish with buddy that does. I like the motor, quiet, smooth and powerful at any point. Less oil than other 2 strokes. Other things to consider, where do you live and is your dealer nearby-just in case. The warranties were 7 yrs, how can you argue with that? Like any purchase it will come down to personal preference and the dealer that appeals to you. Tough to go for a ride in one now, but if you are in no hurry and retirement is around the corner, take your time and make your decision count.

For those who don't eat walleyes, I just them it is WATER CHICKEN and that does the trick.

Ice, I have the TrollMaster Pro and it is great. If you troll you will wonder how you fished without it before. For those that don't know much about TrollMaster it is like cruise control for your kicker or smaller motor. Set the speed (RPM) and it stays, it also has momentary full throttle and an idle position. If you are trolling muskies at 5 mph and you get a fish on, hit the idle button and it will slow to an idle speed while you fight the fish, hit the idle button again and it will go back to the previous setting, can you say SWEET !!

That is what this and many other sites are for: help each other learn. Here is another cool ice fishing video posted the other day but it may have got missed by many. Old School-Pump up the Volume!

I second what Mark Kulik said. Lowrance for sure and colour is great for interpreting and you will want GPS too. I have owned all the other brands and Lowrance's fish finding is unmatched. Good luck with your shopping!

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and hope things are well. Stay safe and enjoy the Holidays And for you ice fishing people check out the video.. LOL

Offshore boards are my choice. Might be a bit more money but they can be used in many different ways. Tattle flags are a great help and the Night Lights that came out last yr work great. I use the Super Snapper OR-18 releases on most of my Offshore boards. Once again personal choice. You could also try buying one of each and making a decision that way.

Fishdawg, I highly recommend Lowrance. Their producty is above all in fish finding. Look at the number of pros using them and most pros are not sponsored by Lowrance. I have had the chance to use the other brands and high end units too. Mapping is not compatible between Lowrance and Garmin. Garmin has their own Blue Chart and Lowrance uses Nautipathic in HD units like the X-26 HD or buy purchasing a Navionics chart card. Navionics has many charts for waters you may be fishing or boating. www.navionics.com Enjoy the shopping.

The Bondy Bait has caught fish on other bodies of water too. Jon not only has a jiggin bait, he also has designed one for casting. For those who don't know who Jon Bondy. He is the only Canadian fishing the Bassmaster Elite series and guides the waters of Lake St. Clair, Detroit River and Lake Erie. Jon created the Bondy jigging bait to catch deep water muskies in the current of the Detroit River. It works very good and can be used on other systems as well, like the Niagara, St. Lawrence and Ottawa.

Lake St. Clair is open until Dec 15. I guide and so does Jon Bondy www.lakestclairfishing.com. Jon casts and jigs I also include trolling with the casting and jigging.

Well here it is fishin folks..... K-Dawg and Bobby-D were castin`, jiggin` and rippin oversized 7-ounce Bondy baits out of Windsor, on the Detroit river today-filming for season six- Extreme Angler Tv- and did it get "extreme"...check out the pics. here is one of the `ski`s that made it to the net- better yet, this fish gave Bobby-D a taste of his own medicine...(see 2nd image of Bob`s torn up thumb- "stitch `er up dude) and how about the "bloody glove...er, make that, the bloody towel" guess this fish had the last laugh.... Day #2 tomorrow a.m. at first light- wish us luck. p.s...gotta ice down the shoulders and forearms- Give ya the lowdown tomorrow eve- nite.

It was a great day on the water with K-Dawg and Mark as always. The hair jig is slightly different than the vertical jigging on the Detroit River and when the fish hit it is a smash and dash! Those golden 'eyes really look great too.

If you look at most fresh water fish at the stores most are caught on Lake Erie. I would think they are monitored pretty good being a commercially harvested. Enjoy the meal.

Most planer board masts are about 6' tall. One of the easiest masts to use is the Riviera Planer board mast. You can buy the model to fit into your seat base at the bow. They also have a model with spring loaded reels(Kachman) You can find more about Riviera and Off Shore Tackle products at www.offshoretackle.com Off Shore is the maker of the small inline boards uded by many walleye fishermen and women.

Grant, that is one of the toughest rod choices to make. I have used many rods on the Detroit River, the Kawartha's and many lakes in Michigan. Personal choice is the only call I can recommend. I use Shimano 6 or 6' 6" med action, either Compre of Crucial. They have both worked well in many situations for myself and clients. If you know people that have a rod that you may like you could ask to try it while fishing with them. With the type of fishing that you are doing it is a feel bite and do not be afraid to pay a bit more. Trolling rods will stay in a rod holder, but when it is in your hand all day you want it to be light, sensitive and have enough backbone to set the hook on a bony mouthed walleye. Enjoy you shopping.

The St. Mary's River is gorgeous. I enjoyed the fishing while touring on the MWT, it was one of the best stops on the trail a few yrs back. To watch a 1000 footer navigate the river is cool an the locks are impressive too. I believe it is a 2' drop from Superior to the river. Although the fall colours are not in high gear the Algoma Train ride is a nice day trip. If you happen to get on the river check the US side at the power plant, the brickwork has small lighthouses created in the work.

I think what some are trying to say is:Vertical holds like this one are NOT recommended. It is best to support the weight of the fish with both hands. It is a very nice fish, congrats. I am including a picture of a fat 42# musky and a proper hold so others can be better informed. Most anglers hold them vertically because of a lack of knowledge. Teaching others is what will help sustain a great resource for future generations.

Brian, it takes me 3hrs and 15 min to get to BPS TO from Windsor. That is doing 120 and down the 407. Once you cross the border it will take about another 55 min. I have made the trip many times. Other great fishing stores are BPS and Gander Mtn.

You can never catch them all! Here is a short clip of a musky who did not want to come into the net!! For me I did not mind, no slime in the boat and I did a get a good look at the fish. Bit tough to net and film. LOL

I had the chance to fish with a these to fellows today and we had a blast. Levi is almost 7 and loves the outdoors and Grandpa enjoys spending time with Levi and fishing too! While living in OK he was chasing snakes and all other types of wild life?? Snakes!! But anyways we hooked into a bunch of bows today and missed a bunch more(live release) they weren't looking for food and I am not a rainbow eater myself. He is a little clip of a live release near the boat. Once Grandpa makes sure the dipsey is released he hands the rod off to little Levi. It is great to be reminded of being a kid again, the joy of the outdoors and spending quality time with the family.

Steelhead fishing continues to heat up as the temps have. With just over 3 wks before the fish head back to Ohio and Pennsylvania waters the bite has been going strong. Today we battled with over 20 chromers in 4 hrs. I was fishing with my wife during the heat of the day 11:30 -3:30. The riggers were hot from 30 45 down and the best colors were, Oil Slick and Monkey Puke. Time is running out quick, seems like the summer just started and we are already into August.
