  1. My dad and I picked up a nice little 15" Arkansas aluminum boat over the long weekend ... This is my first boat, and well, my old man has had a couple in the past .. It was a screaming deal, and came ready to rock with a nice assortment of accessories ... 20hp mercury, trailer, the boat, fish finder, ship to shore radio(which im not sure as of yet what uses it will have to me, i fish smaller lakes mostly), 2 winter life coats, live well with aerator, a down rigger, and 4 pole holders, anchor, etc ... the basics really, with some frills... I'll be taking her for her maiden voyage this weekend, probably just hit up wildwood, or some other smaller lake around London before she goes up north to Lake Nepewassi the following week for some serious fishing .. lol, I've got another downrigger to slap on it this week, I'm pretty stoked about this purchase, and can't wait to get it on the water
  2. The news just said people will be able to see it as far south as Houston TX, up until Thursday morning. Thats alot of sun-flare.
  3. there is a mobile service for OFC ?? tapatalk? or an actual app? if not ... admin should get tapatalk .. iphone blackberry and android for the forum... tapatalk is amazing. have a couple forums using it on my android.
  4. There is a lot more to it than just storing fish ..... its going to be a game, geo-caching, friends lists, fishing spot shares, leader boards, pictures, Google maps API integration, and a bunch more ... yes, a lot of it has been done, but essentially, I'll be taking all the other ideas, putting them together in one application, and adding quite a bit more ... also, as I said in the first post, this is for my friends, and whoever else wanted to use it .. its not for something huge for public use, that i anticipate will blow up, its for my friends, i was merely looking for what everyone thinks would be good for ranks on those fish ... again, before anyone else says "hey, this has been done, i'll flame the post instead of actually attempting to help" .... I know its been done, I'm doing this for ME and MY friends, and what ever randoms want to do it ...
  5. i gave enough information to justify the question, nothing more ... but thanks for thinking my countless hours of work wouldn't go un-researched ... what a waste this time would have been if i were in fact stupid.
  6. no offence .... Android is my business, iPhone, I hate, but, I have a buddy who codes for them, and Blackberry wants way too much money to program for there phones ... you could always browse to the website on your Blackberry ... lol.
  7. +1 ,... lol.
  8. Just a question for all you out there ... Im currently making an online fish counter you can sign up for ... this portion will be live for me and some friends(or whoever else wants to use it) .. storing : fish type, length, weight, lure/bait, location, other info section(weather, temps, etc ...) .... This will also have a game built into it, with global leaderboards for users all over teh world, with a point system for fish.. this will be starting in ontario only(for mere simplicity to start with different types of fish, and tehre points...) This will also be ported over to Android phones, and iPhone and be available in spring.... can i get some input on what everyone thinks the point system should be ? type points only .. size will be awarded bonus points however(for the larger fish) how would you order these fish? The Trouts Northern Pike Musky Large/Small mouth bass. Salmon Walleye Pan fish(bluegill, rock bass, etc...) Alternative Species(carp, catfish, etc ...) thanks
  9. why I said net savvy is beyond me .. lol, teksavvy ... TekSavvy <----- link here [edit* below:)] www.teksavvy.com a friend in Toronto has this service .. she is pulling 25mb down, and 1mb up ... shes only signed on for the 10mb service ... but getting 25... pretty sweet. edit** link didn't work....
  10. to this ... when netsavvy makes it up north,(they are on the way)... 10mb down 1mb up(1mb/second and 100kbs upload) ... for around 35$ plus tax, 200 GIG cap ... for those of you still in southern ontario for the most part ... netsavvy is worth a check out ... i was with rogers, a 10/1 connection, paying 90$ a month with a 120gb cap ..... i now am with netsavvy, paying $60/month, with NO cap, 10/1 service ... cant wait till they rock northern ontario with those deals!
  11. Here in London, I'm a web/android phone developer ... when I go up to Nepewassi, there is ONE square on the dining table's table cloth that I get hsdpa(3G+), being an Android developer, and clearly having gift phones from Google - I whipped up a sweet little program that shares my 3g+ signal from my phone ad-hoc connect it to my laptops, and im surfing at about a 3Mb service download, and a 2.5Mb service upload ....Lets me get my work done, and lets me get my movies and tv shows downloaded in under an hour ... other than that, im stuck with 3G or Edge network, but, still can effectively browse the internet ...
  12. Thanks everyone ... lots of good advise! ... things I defn' wouldn't have thought of! Hopefully all goes well with out trip, a couple more weeks till I go, but wanted to get this out early, just to be safe ... thanks again
  13. that would be sooo disappointing ... but yeah, rules are rules ... if it were me, I'd be a very sad individual...lol.
  14. for those of you who might not know .... thats lanny
  15. lol, a classmate and myself got a good laugh over this.
  16. This would have been the preferred option, but for 2 reasons no longer ... First, I plan on running hydro to the cabin, and moving up there for the available months of the year, so they do have to get used to it ... and secondly .... I had put my boy jaxson in a kennel before when the ex-girlfriend and I had taken a weekend for our anniversary to goto Niagra Falls ... When we got back, jaxson had a crooked eye, and was really really skiddish for about a week afterwards .... with no definitive proof that it was the kennel .... might I add .. hes a show dog, so we defn' notice things like this about him, and would have noticed previously .... took him to a dog eye doctor(optimologist, or soemthing) ... He had determined it was trauma that had affected Jaxsons' eye causing it to go 'lazy' .... Thank god hes ok, and had gained his canadian championship before this .... So I had promised him and myself the dogs woudl never go into a kennel again!! *edit : also, no neighbouring campers really, about 10 acres between my cabins and the closest cabins down the lake .. now that is an approximation, im grew up a city kid, acreage has never been my stong suit .. lol ...
  17. definate 2 thumbs up!!! nice fish!
  18. Thanks!! benedryl is another great idea! ... your dogs are very cute little guys ... ballsy i'de guess to chase off some coyotes ... I'm glad to hear they are skidish like that, the coyotes around London here, there so used to the farm dogs, they dont scare that easily! good news for sure .. still blows my mind theres lots of porky's up there! I would absolutely hate to cross one of them ... as a kid being told they shoot there quills(konwing now thats false), put a bad taste in my mouth, forever to be scared of the little devils..lol. ... This forum is great, I've defn said it before, but the people on here seem to be so nice! .. when i go up to nepewassi, if anyone is down for a day of fishing, I'de love the company
  19. JESUS!!! those are amazing specimens .. wish those nice brookies would be wheeled around here .... near Delhi, I wheel 12" rainbows .. lol ... would love to get something that beautiful. nice catches!!!
  20. Same here ... Used to fish between Port Stanley, and Port Bruce, wheeling really nice fish ... last year, sheephead, and carp .. all day ... although, the perch in lake erie this year are out of control ... 8 - 14" perch like its there job to eat your minnows....
  21. I'll have to do that, they have to go in this week for there monthly flee/tick/heartworm advantix ... so i'll defn' ask about that...
  22. yeah, last time I was up there, the bugs were absolutely rediculous, deer flies by day, skitters by night ... know of any good repellant I coudl use on dogs ? is deet bad for dogs moreso than us? I would have absolutely no idea what to use on the pooches ..
  23. wow! .. sorry im late for work ?? lol.
  24. Scents would be an issue, both my dogs are 'in-tact', and the male, hes a sucker for new smells ... and extremely protective of his little sister ... The line is a perfect idea for them up there, until we go for hikes, but .. around the cabin .. such a good idea! I didn't even know porcupines where around there at all, I saw some at science north as a kid, but, thats crazy\! .. I'll have to watch out for sure ... a line sounds like a really good idea, I'll string one up the length of the property, like a clothes line(steel of course), just clip them into that line, so they can walk around the land, without wandering! .. thanks! ... good lookin' cane btw!
  25. The stripes on those fish are so defined ... love that! nice score, that surely beat the heck outta my opener. . lol. again, just makes me want to run outside, gear up, and hit the water!!... Canada Day is coming soon, I think I'm calling that one a long weekend! .. Thanks for the pics.
