  1. LOL! Yep last year for a week long trip. Me and 2 other buddies.. they had no operators card.. So, I did the driving/trolling the entire week. In the end... not a thank you, zilch! They cought all the fish. ARGH! Kept telling them.. get your operators card.
  2. Hey Muddler That's pretty much what I'm talking about... My buddy Beau and me, we always catch them no matter where. But my buddy Morgan, nadda, hardly ever. It's like he's bad luck to me and I just want to push him off the damn boat! LOL!
  3. A friend and me whenever we got out fishing... no matter the conditions/same lake/honey holes etc., we ALWAYS catch lot's of fish and all kinds. And usually always win the trophy's for most fish/largest fish caught on our annual fishing trips. But, if he or I are fishing with someone else (same conditions/same lake/honey holes) we hardly catch a damn thing. Does anyone else experience that? Certain people that you just don't want on your boat or don't want to fish with? Like a bad omen. Like bringing banana's on your boat. Hmmmmmm.
  4. Wait a minute.......... I know exactly where that is! So it's YOUR BOAT I have been using all this time.
  5. HAHA Ya he's heading up there same area (Great Bear Lodge)?? something like that. Good luck up there. I'll be heading up June 19 for a week. Promised Land Lodge. Counting the days.... FYI, I heard from a few who been up that area already and it's fine up there in regard to water levels. It's still low but ok to navigate. North of Gull Islands is great for eye's so I hear. Cheers, John
  6. Are you going up with a guy name Ray Walker from Stoney Creek?
  7. HAHA! YEP! That's the one! Always caught lot's of fish all in that area. You go up in behind there, well long time ago you could. You can do it from shore, but we use to have a really small boat we would take back in there. So long ago....
  8. Link to Google map for Chaffeys Locks http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&tab=wl&q=Chaffeys%20Locks
  9. Chaffeys Locks is your best bet, I grew up in that area fishing on the shores and around the locks. BASS, BASS, and more BASS in that area. Pike and Walleye also. Mostly Pike. Scroll to the bottom of this link... http://www.rideau-info.com/canal/fishinfo.html It has contact info for a local guide. Not sure if he still does it. But you can email and ask him questions about the area. Rideau river, Big Rideau Lake is great but best to have a boat.. I used to fish quite a bit on the Rideau river/lake and around the town of Smiths Falls Try the area before the locks start as you come into Smiths Falls from Kingston highway. Go left at the first fork in the road and you will see an old train bridge to the left. Fish that area. And at the other end of town going towards Merrickville. Very easy to fish from shore. I have not fished there in years, but was always catching fish all the time. Also ask some of the locals (gas stations/chip wagons) along the highway going into Smiths Falls) all local people and I am sure they can point you to some great spots. People who work at Canadian Tire... I bet almost everyone goes fishing who works there. Hope this helps. Cheers, John
  10. Here is a link to the photo of the crappie. http://puddlebud.com/WP-BLOG/2010/03/25/monster-crappie-is-illinois-state-record/
  11. Thanks for all the great info guys, helped me a lot. Cheers, John
  12. Hey Thanks Roy and Solopaddler!!!
  13. I have the same issue.. going up to a lodge for a week and have 500 on order. A friend has a really huge styrofoam container, (SIZE: a bit bigger than a microwave) we were thinking of using that. probably make some holes in the top for air. We have no fridge. Like I heard before.. use shredded newspapers, a bit of soil, some freezer packs wrapped up. Should this be ok? Thanks
  14. I have to agree. Last fall Iw as fishing the Nip and was out deep 30+ feet and seemed to me they were suspended. Adjusted my depth trolling and got a few that way. Here is an article from the Sudbury Star. It was posted 3 months ago. but explains it. http://www.thesudburystar.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2437149
  15. Thanks for the info Capt.. Going to Nip for a week June 19-26, so hope that it is some what easy to nav that entire area on the south shore. May head out deeper. Usually fish anywhere between Waydes landing and hunter bay area. and up along the east ridge north of the South River.
