  1. What do you guys subscribe to now a days? I've been considering re subscribing but I'm not sure what to choose. I used to have subs to in fisherman, ontario out of doors, outdoor canada, bob izumi's real fishing, canadian fly fishing and a american one. Based on the content what would you guys recommend? I stopped renewing when I realized I had 2 big boxes full of fishing mags a few years ago lol
  2. Don't know about the other guys but I'm assuming they are using the ones I found. They are raw individually flash frozen whole fish.
  3. I got a pack of small sardines at no frills yesterday, they range from 3" to 5" 3.50$ for a 750g bag
  4. Checked home hardware, walmart, and al flahertys with zero luck. I guess the search goes on
  5. I've been looking for a portable buddy too, bass pro only has the big buddy in stock, and princess auto is completely out of all heaters. According to the mr heater web site, true value also carries them.
  6. they should extend the length of time the card is valid for. you can get a sticker for one year with the card, but you are stuck for the following two years having to renew it every year. (i should have bought a three year sticker, but wasn't thinking at the time.) maybe if there was a 2 year sticker renewal option, so you can have the option to max out the card at one stop to reduce the chance of forgetting.
  7. i wish i knew where to target resident trout close to my work (duffins headwaters). not really knowing the area, i'm always paranoid that i may be trespassing, and searching for pools is the last thing on my mind
  8. i'll check it out this weekend if they have it at bass pro. btw, i took your advice a few months ago with my wader inquiry, got myself the hodgman wadelites, and they are great. and spiel, where would the best place to order the parts from if i did decide to have a rod custom made? i know of this site but are there any canadian sites or anywhere that would be better to order from? thanks again
  9. thanks for the responses guys, i guess i have a lot to think about. i should have mentioned my budget is right around 100$ +-20, so the loomis line is out of the question,(i have felt them in the store, and while they are really nice, i can't bring myself to spend that much on a ul) this is the list i gathered from this post St Croix premier ultra light Fenwick Techna AV 6'6 UL. fenwick hmg rapala f2 7' yup lots to look for at bass pro this weekend lol, btw i will be using this rod mainly for trout when i hit the headwaters, and throwing small jigs for bass and walleyes mostly, i have a pretty decent arsenal as it stands, (float setup, baitcasting setup, ml spinning, m spining, fly etc)so i don't really want to go to crazy with this setup
  10. as the title states, i'm currently on the search for a new ul setup, (already got myself a small quantum pti tour edition). my search through lebaron and bass pro have pointed me in the direction of the 6' shimano compre ultralight, i loved the feel of the handle, and the rod just seemed to feel right to me. i was mainly wondering if anyone here has experience with this rod, and negatives to share etc before i spend over a bill on it. also if there might be another rod to look into getting. my current light setup rod is a 6'6" lightning rod, and my ul is an 5' ugly stick (virtually no sensitivity, i know) what i'm looking for is a comfortable grip, and 6' or longer
  11. looks like you missed a bit of meat by the tail, in the video the guy says to start at the anal vent and fillet from that point back to the tail
  12. i'm using a 12.6 right now with my drift setup, it is a bit on the heavy side, but it get's the job done at a great price
  13. i've been paintballing for about 8 years, the one major piece of advice i can give is to KEEP YOUR MASK ON on the playing field. baggy clothing that you don't mind getting messed up is alway's good, and a good pair of cleats or hiking shoes with a good sole (it can get slippery on the turf without them, try to leave the steel toe workboots at home, they will just weigh you down) um, a garbage bag to bring home your dirty clothes will help keep your car clean, and don't forget to stretch before you actually play. that's about all the advice i can give, the rest is up to you, and how willing you are regarding moving around the field to get angles on people, and what not.
  14. also, there are lots of catfish at night usually right off a dock
  15. thanks for all the help man, gonna put in the order tonight
  16. i have the 7ft spinning rod, its a great all purpose rod, the action is fantastic, and it's the perfect size to use while fishing on a boat with other fishermen lol. the handle is a bit short for my liking, but i've had it for a pretty long time (at least 4 years). i landed a 20+ salmon on it last season to lol. personally i just got into steelhead fishing last fall so i'm still getting everything i need. picked up a 12.6 shimano convergence as a cheap rod, and an islander steelheader centerpin to go with it. now i just need waders to get off the shore. as for the size of the waders i need to get, my measurements are right on the border of the medium and large pair, should i go a little bigger or a little smaller? normal shoe size is 10.5-11 depending on the shoe waist 32 inseam 32
  17. the price on the camo ones is great, it looks like they are the same model as the ones you linked me to aswell. hell at the price i might get 2 pairs one for backup. just need to find out what the shipping to canada will be. and if i will get nailed with border/brokerage fees i hate lifetime warranty's that don't live up to what they should be. i have a g loomis frontier that i'm really cautious to use now that the company went under. that rod was steel but i figured g loomis canada and the us company would work together.
  18. i was looking at these hodgmans how is the warranty on hodgmans products though? i know every single breathable is going to leak eventually, but with ll bean they have a lifetime no nonsense return policy, so if they ever get to the point of no repair, i can send them in and get a new pair oh and i completely agree on the boots part.
  19. so i'm looking at these right now LL bean emergers and these cabelas bluestreams i am drawn to the ll beans for the price, number of great reviews, and the lifetime warranty that ll bean provides.
  20. i've been browsing the orvis site, and the l.l. bean site. i will look into the hodgman, and the cabela offerings though. and i sent jr a pm looking for more information about the orvis ones he has thanks
  21. hello all, here is my current situation. i am in the market for a pair of stocking foot breathable waders, but seeing how there are so many different brands and models to choose from, i am at a loss as to what i should get. my budget is around 150$ to no more than 200$ for the waders and a pair of wading boots, and i would like to be able to find them locally, bps, lebaron, tightlines etc. so basically i'm looking for a pair with a decent price, durability, performance, warranty, and all the good attributes you can only know after you buy a pair and try them. thanks
  22. btw, you are the one that hooked my buddy dan up with the roe bags as you were leaving right?
  23. very nice, this is what i got today, this is my first fish ever on a centerpin.
