  1. I pitched in! Hope you all like 'em....
  2. Thanks Lew, Dropped a message to the fella.
  3. Looking to acquire an article on spoon fishing. Preferably a full, single page, well written article on the various ways to fish with spoons. Any takers? Or know of anyone I should talk to?
  4. Would you be able to supply a snapshot of what the label looks like so we can get a better idea? And oldschool is 100% correct when he mentioned not all printers will bar code properly. Those ink jet printers that everyone has simply won't do the job. Sure, the output looks VERY close, but lots of shipping companies scanner guns can't read it for some reason. The bar coding must be done in a very fine detail. To accomplish this, either a Zebra printer is required (very common for bar coding) which happens to use 'heat' to make the print, or a good laser printer. Maybe start or move this thread to the computer section and post a pic of the label you're trying to reproduce, plus the standard run quantity. Each detail will be very important to get the most bang for your buck.
  5. Great report guy, and be sure to keep taking 'em. Can't stop at just one trip ya know!
  6. Added my vote, and I'll go ahead and bookmark the site to vote every day.
  7. Sounds like you had a pretty rough start. Good thing it picked up towards the end, and it's good to see you guys came away with a positive attitude. Good luck on your next one.... hopefully better than the last.
  8. The 20+ walleye we ate from there turned out fine, and yes.... everyone is still alive.
  9. People out there "own" lakes? Wow... Just imagine owning your own lake. I mean, some people here have ponds, but nothing compared to a whole lake.
  10. At least it wasn't a TOTAL bust. Just watch out for those Ebay deals, and try to get more sleep.
  11. St. Croix makes a great rod, and Hagen's exclusively gets their blanks from them. Here are a couple you might be interested in, but don't know if it's in the price range you're looking for..... http://www.hagensrods.com/casting_rods_4.htm I believe TJ has a Hagen's Rod, but can't remember which one. You'll have to ask him if he likes it.
  12. Good point. Forgot about that one till you mentioned it. We always look for the 'Walleye Chop'.
  13. Water depth? When our crew was on Lake Erie, some spots were about 30' deep. From the boat, we used 4oz bottom bouncers and a worm harness. However, the ones in that link have smaller blades than what we were using. We had size 3 to 5 Colorado blades, and about 6 beads... red/white combination. Slayed them all day, with very few less than 20".
  14. Great catch guys! Keep the photo's comin'. BTW - When I was fishing on Lake Erie, just so happens that our guide was using rubber nets. Don't know that means anything, but he sure seemed like he knew his stuff.
  15. Great report accompanied by some nice photo's. Keep 'em comin!
  16. Tell the mods to stop using the server for downloading porn! hahahha
  17. Fraud.... You hit the nail on the head there. I'm just saying that technically, the business owner/operator is still going to pay out the same amount of money no matter who happens to win. So the only people that REALLY get cheated are the other contestants, which of course, know that there is no guarantee that they will win anyways... just like gambling. Now, if the rules of the tourny were set up so that you had to have at least a certain amount of fish (in pounds or whatever) to win money, and the business people would only pay those who come up with that weight and more, AND everyone that met that weight requirement would get paid, then yes.... that would in fact be a direct fraudulent act. The person would be cheating the business owner out of cash. I definitely don't condone in what this guy did, just seeing if people here would look at it from another angle.
  18. Wow... people never cease to amaze me.... First off, I think we can all agree that cheating in a tourny is just lame. Come on, you have the right to go out into gods country and do something that you LOVE doing, but then throw it all away for something as common as money. Stupid. I was wondering tho - This jail time that he might serve, is this the punishment for having these fish on stringers or is this punishment for cheating at a tourny? I know some communities take their fishing to the extreme, but I sort of disagree with any kind of legal punishment for cheating. I'm sure some will disagree with me, but lets face it... A tourny is a business operation and cheating in a fishing tournament doesn't necessarily infringe on peoples rights, safety, or well being. Thoughts??
  19. Looks like a killer time!! Very good photo's too.... looks like you and your buddy should be doing editorials for fly magazines. hahahha
  20. Here's an excellent article on Wiki with a list of different finishes a person could use. Nice chart to tell you whats durable, protection required, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wood_finishing Hope that helps!
  21. Holy That head is at least twice as big as the one posted in our board room!
  22. Welcome to the board! And yes, the mods did do one heck of a job on this place. Looks like it took forever to make.... did it really take that long, i wonder.. hmmm....
  23. What I do is obvious, given the format i guess. What have I been doing the past 10 years is something else. Playing in business, sums it up pretty good. I've done everything from small business management to calculating costs for multi-million dollar contracts in the processed ham industry. What a ride, I tell ya.... But what I REALLY want to get back to is small business. By far, it's the most rewarding work someone could ask for. Sure, there's tons of stress at times, and some months you don't know how you're gunna pull through... but it all washes away when you have that one on one conversation over the counter with a customer, who you know will come back for that personal touch that big box stores can't deliver. By far, it was the best working experience of my life. I miss that job.... but slowly working my way towards it again. Perhaps when my wife gets done with college (nursing), opportunities will be achievable.
