  1. Got enough of my own Lew, but thanks anyhow!
  2. Yah Geoff... sticker was the first thing that caught my eye!! Nice ride Ernie! Reminds me, I have to get my 1998 out and see what's clicking in the track system, but lots of fishing to do first!
  3. Well that might change my mind. All our old Yamaha's are manual shift except what was Jen's Breeze, that's an automatic.
  4. Better safe than sorry. If the pump or hose cracks open the boat sinks.
  5. IF you didn't cap that intake, then just putting the boat in the water refilled the pump and lines to the hull water line. Pending how your thru hull pump is mounted, and how the hoses go forward from it, they could hold some water. I know the way mine run that the boat ramp isn't steep enough to empty the hose running to the front live well. (why I cap them before fall Musky fishing)
  6. My 1995 350 Big Bear gets ZERO maintenance. Oil hasn't been changed since the first dealer check up after purchase. Starts every time, runs flawless. Finally needs a muffler... Moto 4 was bought by Leah's father in 1985. Don't think it's had any maintenance since the original drain plug melted out in '85 and was dealer replaced. Runs like a top. Question is does Yamaha still build them like that?
  7. Why I cap my livewell intake ports after winterizeing and as for fogging, unless you're storing beyond next summer, I wouldn't be bothered with fogging a 4 stroke. Quick check of your lower unit oil for water (pull lower plug.. look.. feel oil.. put back plug). Presuming that you put stabil in your last fuel fill you're good, otherwise you need to go fishing again!
  8. That's the problem with these Cougars Chris, they always like to show off their best side!
  9. Have never flipped the bail manually after the cast. My C4 I got in '83 still works flawlessly!
  10. Yah.. I think he just posted twice...
  11. Pending cavity shapes I'd probably buy the two part pourable closed cell foam. If you have some easy shapes you could probably use blue Dow SM or pink Celfort. You just have to be cautious as to what is closed cell, what is open and what is somewhat in between. Pool noodles work great one day and then suddenly deteriorate and become an instant sponge. Even the Dow Corning billets for floating docks start to absorb water over time and once they become waterlogged they will not dry out. I've found a few blocks floating down the lake and they weigh 4x what they should. Left in the sun they still won't dry out. Same deal with my hot tub cover, once side is totally water logged. If you're going to go to all the work to pull out the old, no point putting crap back in.
  12. That's the surprising thing, not a single pike to stink up the boat.
  13. Noodles are made with hydrogen peroxide and LDPoly. They break down in short time and absorb water. Last thing you want in the boat.
  14. I walked down our 1200 foot laneway and lowered my flag at exactly 11am to half mast. The silence on Tay point was eerie to say the least. I've never heard such silence out here. No wind, no road traffic or industrial noise, that is usually pretty prevalent out here on the peninsula. Spent a few minutes reflecting on the sacrifices of many and then the silence was broken by the sound of drums from either Midland or Penetang's cenotaph. Shortly after that surprised by all things to hear guys sighting their guns up the road at the gun club. Of all days I find that pretty disrespectful and I'm a gun owner.
  15. You keep playing with that bait Akrisoner, I'd probably fish for them too if I didn't have 168 free hours, per week, to spend doing what I want, after 5+ years of living to someone else's medical schedule. Oh and BTW Mister G, you must have cooked them wrong because Musky is better than Pike if you steak them right!
  16. I'm pretty sure we'll be out again next week Shayne... do you feel a cold coming on or the arrival of anal glaucoma (can't see my coming to work)
  17. Only net that we've seen hit the water from any of the boats out in the past 3 weeks and no "chatter" as to anyone catching fish. Anyone is welcome to come up and show us how it's done. Edit as Chris posted same time, I'd do a thousand fish free hours on Georgian Bay before constantly pulling weeds on Scugog ever again!
  18. Nah.. he sold his boat, but certainly isn't giving up on fishing.
  19. Nothing big, caught with no less than 80 feet left on our trolling path before packing things up at 4 today. Caught at 3:56 Came on Andy's line, my boat. He reeled it in, clipped the hooks etc but I get the picture, it's how we troll !!
  20. My land is weird how it's grown out, behind my house and down to the road allowance is 80% oak, all 20 acres of it. Probably 400 trees minimum are sawlog / veneer grade. Mixed in is a fair amount of hard maple, some sugar maple, some big beech trees a few large birch and a few big ash trees. The NW corner of the property has about 5 acres of 90 foot x 30" + diameter bottom Poplars. Son's is a pretty even mix of all trees and his has a fair batch of cherry and iron wood trees. Everyone of the saplings in this shot of the Birch is either an oak or a hard maple.
  21. You have 30 minutes after sunset Dax...
  22. Nice buck, have one of similar size +/- in my yard with a 12 pt rack.
  23. Typical Red Oaks in my forest. Grow in triples and quads, so good to cut at least one off for firewood and give the other two room to grow out for sawlog / veneer.
  24. Cleaning up all my oak dead falls ( they love to limb themselves) and unfortunately one of my triples shed it's only veneer trunk, leaving two x 24" + trunks that are good for firewood only. Oh well, I'll let them grow while I clean up the important stuff first before it starts to go bad. Love hand splitting oak.. great work out.
