Going to fish Quinte this weekend and it was suggested that I launch at the end of Ferry Lane in Desoronto as it is closest to an area we want to hit...does anyone know if we can park our vehicle and trailer there? I would hate to get there in the early morning and find no parking - or worse, have my vehicle towed while fishing. Also, while I am asking...how has the walleye fishing been lately in the area..and any suggestions? Cheers.

Fair enough..I just wanted to see if they would "top" them up after a day using the battery for trolling, radio, etc.... Would connecting two of them to the one battery help any - and if so, do I connect them directly or in series? Someone asked about the amperage - It says 125 mAh on them.

They were on sale for $9.99, so I picked up 2 of them figuring they may come in handy for my boat...but the box says it will maintain a battery. Does that mean they will not charge up a battery? Would it be better if I hooked them up in parallel or series if I wanted to charge up my batteries - or would doing one or the other cause damage? Anyone have experience with one of these? Thanks!

It sounds simple but I will mention it anyways (as it has happened to me). Are your batteries fully charged and putting out enough juice? If not, you may get it to crank but without enough juice it will not turn over. Also, make sure your battery connections are clean/rust free/secure. I live in Woodbridge too in case you need to try out a different battery.

+1 Toyo's Switched from factory intalled Michelin's a few months ago to Toyo's on the recommendation of a few tire places and after reading a number of reviews on various forums and could not be happier - price wise and performance. This is on a 2007 MDX.

I keep spending money when I read these types of psost . I just bought the Napoleon Portable that was recommended and sold on Costco.ca. It has more BTUs than the Weber, and the reviews on the Costco website actually has someone who has compared the two and prefers the one from Costco. And it is $10 cheaper than compared to the Weber sold at Home Depot.

+1 on the fulton swing arm option. After many years of putting my boat into my garage on an angle, and having less than 1 cm clearance before the garage door would not go down/up, I decided to add the swing arm myself. Surprisingly it was very easy (as long as you have the tool to cut the arm - not sure the name, but I used a mitre saw like tool for steel to cut the arm. It was 3 years ago, took about an hour and it has been very handy, saving me a ton of room. Just remember to get a very good drill bit to drill the holes for the bolts.

If he knows Jack about it, he may not have cared for it like he should (winterizing, oil/gas mixing, etc...) but then again, he may the type to have had it serviced at a Marina. Either way, it goes without saying that if you are not capable yourself, have it looked at by a mechanic.

If that is true, I have a 16.5 foot 1992 aluminum Starcraft that is as solid and sturdy as the day she was built. Not one leak and I too take it out to the greater depths in Lake Ontario. Great boat for a variety of lakes and fishing conditions. With the 40HP Merc I have on mine, it will run at 30 MPH top speed with 2 guys on board.

I had Discount Marine do a rebuild on my Merc 40 HP motor a few years ago, and other than having to go back the next year due to some issues with one of the cylinders(which they fixed for free), it has been running good ever since.

Was there last weekend with my son. The boats are for the most part gone - very few left. There was no one fishing on the docks - maybe the gates were locked - but there were some people fishing on the stretch on land that separates the lake and the marina - so you could access the marina area from there. Most fish were caught in the marina waters - minnows and worms both worked well. No jumbos for us. Best way to catch them was just to use a light jig head with a minnow. Toss it in, and by the time it sank to the bottom, you would see your line swim sideways. Nice day too last Saturday - sunny, 15 degrees and little wind. Good luck. Oh, and I am not sure about the minnow situation in Barrie as I bought mine at the stop just north of Major Mac on the 400. What a rip off - $10 for as many minnows that fills a basically an oversided "pill" container. I would get more minnows than that for only $5 at the place on the corner of 89 and Yonge. That was my first and last time at that place on the 400. Oh well, didn;t let that spoil my day, but instead we caught many and kept only about 7 for a small fish fry. While fishing was wondering about the quality of the water in that Marina and the effect on the fish quality after having a full season of boats moored, and constantly going in and out of there. BTW, the fish did taste good.

I bought 23 spark plugs off ebay and in the pack, 3 were not the same as what I ordered. Since I got a good deal on the lot, I am not going to complain to the seller. Since I have no use for them, I'll give them to anyone who wants them. The ones I am giving away are NGK's BUHW-2. If anyone is in the Woodbridge area, PM me and I will arrange a time for you to pick them up.

Hoping to get out with my 7 year old tomorrow morning to do some perching on Simcoe (no boat), but not sure where to go. I look at it this way... What if you had not called the cops and then a couple of days later you hear that the kid shot someone in the eye with that same pellet gun (maybe even your own kid)....you would feel terrible, wouldn't you. This way, you know the gun is gone and you did all you could do to ensure the matter is dealt with.

Wow, thanks for the suggestion of using EBAY. I just won an Ebay bid for a lot of 23 of the spark plugs that I paid $18 each for at the Marina for only $50 US which includes $10 in shipping costs. Even with some duty - which may end up not being anything since the guy is shipping it as a "gift", I saved a ton of money. At $18 each, I would have paid $414 for 23 plugs at the Marina. Now, hopefully the motor lasts as long as my supply of plugs.
