1. Looks good, but what is it? LOL! (I'm guessing tip-up but I wouldn't bet my life on it.)
2. Way to go bud. Your posts are driving me nuts though LOL!
3. It doesn't get much better than that.
4. Nice to see some local softwater reports, good job on the browns.
5. Or it could mean they're catching more fish.
6. Dave, exactly how is something supposed to soak into a guide? I've used just about everything including the ice off paste, they're all marginally effective. When it's cold enough nothing works.
7. True, true, I get your point. We may as well all just join P eTA if not harming a fish in any way is the priority. But there's a big difference between unhooking and releasing a fish quickly and efficiently at boatside and this (to quote Lew): "Their hooked, then the hooks are pulled back out, then their bounced around in a livewell all day with a bunch of other fish, in a boat going upwards of 60 MPH, then hauled back out and carried to the weigh station, then back to the water and released.......or whatever........" Again I'm not in any way against the practice, but it simply cannot be argued that it's equally as harmless as normal C&R practices.
8. Yep the first thing you're taught is how to use big impressive words that mean nothing. (It's not an exact science y'know )
9. I've got absolutely nothing against tournaments or tournament anglers but I completely agree with GCD's sentiment. All these overhandled and transplanted bass probably will live, but some may not. You can't possibly argue that it's actually beneficial to the fish. The only possible effect is negative.
10. We're definitely in the midst of some potentially volatile and changeable weather. Still seems as though the system will miss us now (fingers crossed). What's really amazing is that you were out skiing, never mind the freezing rain. Impressive!
11. Dave (DRIFTER 016) sent me this link today and I figured I'd share it with you: http://cgi.ebay.com/ICE-CASTLE-RV-ICE-FISH...1|39:1|240:1318 Pretty wild eh?
12. HAHA! Yep I hear you on that. When we bought our place last year dealing with snow was the last thing on my mind. Needless to say the 8' high cedar hedge that runs along the left side of the driveway has become a huge source of frustration. I've got no where to put the snow on that side so have to shovel everything over to the other side (or cart it over on my daughters toboggan).
13. Your forecast is always different Wayne. Not much you can do about that never ending lake effect coming off Georgian Bay.
14. Talked to some cohorts at E. Canada this morning and it seems they are indeed changing their forecast. Seems we may get.....nothing. One can only hope.
15. Still tons of ice and slush especially in the whirlpool, I'd wait a bit.
16. I think you mean the 700. Definitely good reels as well and in the same weight range.
17. Bill I have the exact rod in my arsenal of ultralights and run a Stradic 1000 on it. That rod needs a reel in the 7oz range to balance it properly, the micro light reels don't cut it. Go for the Stradic you won't be sorry.
18. And here's the modern day ice machine that no one can afford LOL! <param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295">
19. That's amazing, the mode of propulsion is ingenius, way ahead of it's time. Surprised the concept never caught on.
