  1. I have done some math. The weight added is about 1200 lbs. I'm adding two barrels under deck to help lift. The barrels at half sunk add 500lb lift each. The pantoons are rated 3300lbs each. The safty margin is huge. There realy is no need for the barrels. Since more weight is at back, the barrels should keep it fairly level. As for the regs on this, it will be equipped as it was before as a pantoon boat. Thanks for the input. I'll try to get some pics up as I can. CX
  2. Now we got some ideas coming. The water balloon launcher could very well happen. Yep to the solar lights. Thanks, CX
  3. I have been asked to build a pirate ship. The plan is a 20' aluminum pantoon boat with a cedar pirate ship built on top. No real plan other than a playground wooden pirate ship pic off the net. So far I found an old Peterboro 20' with everything wrong with it. Stripped everything off and throw in garbage trailor. Put on new cedar 5/4 decking. Looks great. I would love to put the old picnic table on her with a brelly, cooler and fishin' gear, If you know what I mean. I got an old 9.9 johnson sail motor with remote control e.start and all. I'm planning on rigging lights and horn and stuff. The nice dude paying for it, thinks a slide off the back and maybe diving plank somewhere. He wants it for a swim platform in front of his nice cottage on Glouster Pool. It will probly go for 2 or 3 spins a summer. This is a petty sweet gig if you know what I mean, I want to do it right. Could lead into bigger and better sweet deals ( if you know what I mean). I would like some thoughts if I'm missing something good to incorparate. I've mulled over water canons, secret acces up under bow maybe. Sould be a mast with crows nest or something. What would go good on this? Thanks, CX
  4. DO NOT FOG !!!!!! Fuel injected motors don't get fogged. It will coat the different sensors in the engine. DO NOT FOG FUEL INJECTED MOTORS. CX
  5. I've done a dozen or so heads with heli coils. It is a good way to fix your problem. Do take the head off to fix. A new gasket is a must do. Most engine guys will do the coil for about 20-30 bucks. Any worries just PM me. CX
  6. I got out on Kemp bay yesterday with Pockets in the team pockets smokercraft. We got at least 50 perch EACH . They were biting just about anything. I found a very small neon green grub on the smallest jig worked best. We found a couple good honey holes. They seemed to be 15' to 20' of water right near bottom. Abit of motion made the bite. To bad I have to work today. (I'd love to go back today) CX
  7. Lew, It is a stright fwd job. I 've done 25 or so in the last couple years. I sell those parts. My price is $86. The hardest part is getting the steering wheel off the helm (first step). If you do it yourself, I'll step you trought it. CX
  8. www.georgianbayairways.com is the guys we used. Very pro. CX
  9. On Wed. 4 of us drove to Parry sound and flew out to a lake for the day. They have boats and motors there. We spent the day catching bass and pike. Good times indeed. With tax in it cost $250 per man. The flight was worth it!!!!! We are going back next year for sure.CX
  10. Cast & Net named by the first owner Mr. Casscanette. CX
  11. I'm a little south of there, Elmvale. CX
  12. I've been off line for awhile. Glad to be back. I may dig up some old posts to see what is going on in the site. I miss reading about all the fishing. In the next week or so I'll post some good stories. (i still fish, just not been on line) CX
  13. I've installed lots of systems in boats. The only way to go is a marine rated unit. The elements will get to the system. Car systems may sound better or cost less, but will not last! Car systems won't take the pounding or the moisture. I won't touch a car system repair in a boat.( the only repair there is replacement) As for grounding electronics to boat....DON"T. The stray current will excel the corrosion in the aluninum.(VERY BAD) If you plan on keeping your boat for any time, do it right. any questions, just PM me. CX
  14. Yeah Lew you don't need most of the wires. The red and blacks are the power. The rest are to hook up to a computer and or radio. If you use the unit as a stand alone, just hook up red to positive and black to negative (ground). And away you go. Yeap that easy. Anyquestions just let me know. CX
  15. I had to wash my Bouy o boy survival suit. I used it for sledding last year. Over heated in it a few times. The smell............well .....you know. I burn synth oil in sled and it left a dark stain on one leg. I had to hit it hard with the chemical to get the stain out. Now, I need to waterproof it. I'm sure there are lots of differant products... What should I use? CX
  16. Boatman, yes the 10.5X11 will improve your take off. It will drop your top speed about 10%. You will still corner the same. You will have more power in rev too. I sell props for a job. Any questions you can PM me. CX
  17. Lic marine mechanic in summer. Lic finish carpenter in winter. Once was E.E.T. Radio telephone operator. Fisherman on sundays. CX
  18. I have dropped a fair amount of tools over board. The magnet has saved the tool many times. Snap-on doesn't have a fishing magnet, but if they did I'd own one. I use a big flat magnet. Looks like a brake rotor. I,ve pulled up allot of things with it. At the marina, I used it to get ancors, knife, bbq tools, that kind of stuff. CX
  19. The lady and I get our own gifts, wrap it up , and swap gifts. We each get a surprise. Last year I opened her foot massage. She opened my leather moccasins. Works for us. CX
  20. Got me an old Lawn Boy lawnmower. Lawn chair. Old fishing pole. CX
  21. That sounds like a darn good plan. Use the aluminum one when you could hit or ice. Save the stainless for deep and familiar waters. Aluminum is more forgiving when you hit {a rock). Stainless tends to do more damage to your lower unit when you hit. CX
  22. Lew, by the numbers you have the right prop. You are getting right on the max rpm, thats what you are looking for. Find out what size of prop you got and get a stainless the same. Your prop size will be something like 13 x 19. The first # is the diameter of the outside of blades. The second # is the pitch. Pitch being the angle of the blades. Pitch is measured in inches. So the above #'s are 13 inches diameter by 19 inch pitch. The pitch is 19 inches travel forward in 1 full turn of the prop. When you know your prop size, let me know. I might have one in stock. I keep a few good used stainless in stock. The price is usually 150 to 400. CX
  23. Lew, a stainless prop on your motor will improve most things about your boat. Better take off, slow rpm on plane, better speed, better fuel economy. The high price for stainless is worth it if you plan on using it allot. You should try and keep your aluminum prop painted. With out paint the aluminum will corrode much faster. The rounder blades are best alround type. Your yammy prop is really good at forward but is less useful in reverse. A rounded prop gives better brakes and reverse. CX
  24. The proper primer for props is zinc chromate (chalky green). With wrong primer, the paint won't last. CX
