  1. Yup, if you go to Val David there is a beautiful River called the Doncaster. Tons of brookies. Also if you see any slews check them out
  2. Its too bad we never seem to catch them in action, I have daydreamed many times how I would traumatize the culprit. Last year someone broke into my garage and broke the window of my car but stole nothing. Didn't make sense as the door was unlocked
  3. As the story says, on this Particular Lake in BC that CBC broadcasted. In the name of Mining resources which we all use, including the so called Enviromentalists, the Jobs it Creates, the taxes the government gets ( to pay for ohh lets say Medicare, housing and payments to natives that feel abused just to name a few things) all us Canadians except the Bush Pilot that was fishing the Lake, will never see this Lake. Catch 22 isnt it. You have to give up something to get something. Lets completely stop producing oil, lumber, mining etc, etc, etc, etc,etc
  4. I knew you were special. WoW 50 years! Congrats, great to still have family around after so long. Hope you can go back and fish in Canada soon.
  5. Around 1994 I watched a documentary on Canadian Engineers clearing Booby Traps around a water pump house in Croatia on the Fifth Estate as my friend WO Dan Hartford narrated as one of his men was cutting a trip Wire with a Leatherman. Danny slyly mentioned that QUOTE " his soldier had bought the Leatherman with his own money because the Army didnt see fit to buy it for their Soldiers. Within a Month the Engineers were given a leatherman which became our most important tool. A few years later they went with Gerbers, but after a couple of years they went back to Leatherman because the Gerber would pinch the hand and the jaws would break. I some how kept my leatherman as they are a returned piece of kit that has to be signed for. My Opinion, leatherman if you got the money, or Carolina selling in CTC. On sale this week with a decent rugged knife.
  6. There's a possible hurricane 18000 miles off the coast of Miami. Water is going up at the pumps
  7. If I was taking a pole here, The winner is the Rapala, which may very well be the cheap plastic handled one that I had bought cheap at Canadian Tire. I have a Chicago Cutlery lock blade fillet knife I picked up cheap in the States that I have never used. Ive had a Henkel and Solinger fillet knives that sharpened real good. But I always use the cheap Rapala because I seem to lose or ruin the blade due to non fish cleaning uses because it was convenient. I kind of agree with Clampet, don't try to sell me a bone or gold or platinum knife, kind of reminds me of the fish glove thread, why buy a 20 dollar fish glove when the dollar store glove will work. I guess guys get sucked into the more bearings , more expensive has to be better gimmick advertising.
  8. Yup I know him well, Little guy if were talking about the same. He was in my Section and was fantastic with the Chainsaw. Tell Him Bobby Clobber says Hi. What do you mean he finished today. PM me Plse. Thanks.
  9. I recently retired from the Forces after 25 years and it has been great for the most part. I have rubbed shoulders and worked with guys that are with the Top Secret JTF, Combat Divers, Para Troopers of every Trade, Helicopter Pilots, and so on and so on. Ive met people from all over Canada and the World. I have trained RCMP, Brits, Civilians, Americans, Russians, French, Serbians , Croats, Muslims, and so many others on Mines and Booby traps. I have trained to Rappel out of helicopters, Shoot a machine Gun out of a Helicopter, and escape from a helicopter underwater upside down. I have disarmed Mines and Booby Traps, Blew up Roads, Runways, Equipment, Bridges, ice Roads and so on. I'm an Arctic Winter warfare Instructor, Combat Engineer Instructor, Taught and Facilitated Soldier Qualification and Leadership Courses. My hands have been on Trip Wires, Mines, Unexploded Ordnance, Antitank Weapons etc. Ive supervised our Soldiers, other Countries Soldiers, Civilians in the Aid to the Civil Power, as well as Prisoners when the Guards went on Strike. My Family have Lived in Ontario, Alberta, BC, as well as Germany while in the Forces. They have lived the Life of an Army Brat although Spoiled, Learned to be Independent. They have rided in APC, Tanks, Helicopters, Rappelled and just about anything that a Base offers in the way of clubs, and Recreation and family Days. All during that time I have been exposed to fantastic Fishing, Competitive Sports, and fantastic Physical Training. I have done things that I never dreamed of, or though I could Handle, till the age of 22. Most important though, it has given me so much confidence and CAN DO attitude that separates me from the normal majority. By the way, you can cook anywhere in the Military even in a Submarine. Beat that
  10. Hey thanks for the post, this is really entertaining watching all the tough guys come out of the woodwork. I see how you feel about losing personal property. Funny the markers never got touched until Sunday. I bet its in the city right now. Personally, I think there is enough private property along the shoreline, let alone floating!
  11. (LOL) I love watching the sissies embellishing injuries and crying. Its actually more entertaining then any scoring.
  12. Hey whats the difference between a Mennonite and a Hudderites? All I know is they wear these weird hats and don't believe in fighting for our country. But they love to shop for the most modern of things. Did they have fishing rods?
  13. Barely anybody fishes the North Saskatchewan River and they say you could catch a huge walleye or Jack. There is sturgeon in there too. That River runs through North Battleford and you never see anybody fishing in a Boat. Sometime though shore fishing. I would say south there is alot of fishing pressure as there arent that many lakes. Then you got Diefenbaker and Tobin. They are huge. Id say the whole Sask population hit the 1 milloin mark this year. Where is everybody? Regina, Saskatoon, NorthBattleford, Lloydminster , Yorkten and the reservations, otherwise Rural. The problem isnt fishing pressure, its netting.
  14. Yea sure, like not loosing your Military Pension when old Age pension Kicks in, or having your Military Pension indexed? In the courts for years and nothing.
  15. Too Late SOLD
  16. Last friday I was at the Community centre in the town of Meota where I work. I came across a Plaque hidden behind the doors leading to the gym with serving members for WW2. What amazed me was there was 79 names on that plaque. This is a SMALL TOWN. every perso of age must of served from this town. What gets me is the so called Zombies (term they used in english quebec for war dodgers) that got away from serving while others set foot on the shores of France and never came home. The best movie dipicting D-Day is the Longest Day. Excellent movie, only one problem. The only time Canadians were mention is when Carrol Oconner mention during his briefing "The CANADIANS HAVE TAKEN JUNO AND GOLD BEACHES
  17. But wait, the Leafs got a new coach
  18. I went to the dollar store and bought a pair of rubberized water proof work gloves. You can see the red glove that I sometimes use to hold pike as Ive stuck myself too many times with the hooks. One dollar, Im cheap but practical.
  19. So figuring we would canoe on Saturday I got the gear ready and loaded. When Rodger arrived we decided it was going to be too windy for the Canoe. Since I gave him the choice of any lakes he decided we should try Deep Lake. I drive by that lake always when I go to Big River and always wondered about the fishing, It borders the Reservation so it could of been netted out for all I know. Rodger assured me there was good fishing. Well off we wet and when I wanted to Launch my tires were spinning in the sand so we decided not to Launch. So off to Hackett lake again. So now this is the second weekend going to the lake. We made a good decision as the wind had picked up and it would of made the canoe trip the pits. Rodger caught the first fish and it was a small jack. I caught one that size last week and another pike had almost split it in half when I was bringing it in. Rodger was using a spoon and I was going with a perch Rapala. Another small Pike. We would end up catching about a dozen pike, all small and released to grow bigger. Of course my Rapala didnt fail me. Actually I never even changed baits at all. At least I caught a walleye, the only one of the day. The most interesting part of the day was Rodger wanted to show me a house off the Beaten path that he thought was for sale. It was about 100 meters from the grid road with a million dollar view half surrounded by woods. I believe this could of been the house that was up for sale for $1,500 ,yea fifteen hundred dollars last year on the store bill board. Im kicking myself that I never even looked at it. It needs work, but cosmetic only. We also found a trappers cabin hidden across the lake that was also interesting. Apparently Rodger knew the owner of that cabin. A small simple log shelter. I wish I would have taken picture but I was sure wed have some nice fish photos but that was not to happen.
  20. You'll be in my thoughts next time you guys Riot, that's the only way government would listen. There are some thinkers up here in Sask that want a board of inquiry on why prices are up. The excuses of more consumption by China, or Low oil stocks do not justify the prices. The stock exchanges are jumping prices up on assumptions. Again no justification. Unlike you guys in Europe, we Canadians travel long distances to work as we are mostly Rural Nation. So if anybody says it could be worse, look at Europe, they deserve, well Ill be nice. One last thing, oil comes out of our ground, changes hands outside our country, then comes back to our pumps, to rob us again.
  21. Im interested, Ill PM you once the weeknd is done, gotta work now, Thanks
  22. I agree 100 percent. The Song, Cherry, TRUE CANADIAN Themes
  23. Why dont you join the saskatchewan fishing forum then. Totally Boring. Now to answer your Question, NO. As far as not playing the hockey night in Canada theme that is Iconic to us Canadians. Why not , take away hitting, fighting, christmas trees, next will be Bacon and Eggs. But hey, lets keep Coranation Street.
