  1. Seventy Kilometers an hour..
  2. Technically that's true.. I was born in the 80's..
  3. Is see how you could think that!! 87' Bravo, fuzzy cell phone picture, and what appears to be a dirty stash on my face.. Cold, but not frozen!.. The baileys makes it seem warm, no mater how cold it gets.
  4. For the past few weeks, it's been perch, after perch, after perch.. Finally I managed to ice a decent Simcoe Whitie. First for the year. We didn't mark much in the way of white fish schools. the odd loner cruising through. Lots of perch. I decided to take a coffee break. So I sat my rod down, and poured a cup. Halfway through my cup of joe, I notice a single whitie on bottom. Put down the cup down. Jig jig.... Bang. Gotta love it. Here's my rig, with the new Strikemaster.. Here's a shot of last weekend. My sled hasn't run right since. Engine compartment is full of snow.. Made for a nice photo though! It was a cold day on the ice. But worth it. Good luck to anyone out there this weekend!
  5. Tis been a slow start for the whities this year.. Good on ya for finding them! Maybe this weekend I'll get out to my usual spot.
  6. Good job Roy That was fast.
  7. Not sure if this has been around before. I would imagine so. What do you guys think. Photoshop?
  8. I'll bring a dozen burgs and buns. A few bags of chips too..
  9. That's me every day! That's funny stuf man!
  10. You can't turn it off on my buddies 2010. He called the dealer about it. Not even a chip that you can remove.. 08' maybe different though?
  11. I have an 07 Escape and love it. No hitch on it though.. I already had a hitch on my VW golf, so I tow a 14' tinner w/ 25hp with the car. If I ever get a bigger boat, or quad, I'll put a hitch on the Escape. I think in 08 they came out with the new style. I also believe that's when they came out with the new traction control that you can't turn off. No fun.. You can't blow doughnuts with them, cuz it automatically straightens you out. I have a freind with an Equinox, and she doesn't like it.
  12. Sounds great to me! If I win the most fish, and the biggest fish, that would cover my gas up! Or a few dances at the peelers
  13. I've been using a Symetre for the last few years with no complaints. I got it one sale for around $80.. Maybe a little high for your price range, but I use it in the summer on my walleye rod too. Well worth the money. I just got an HT reel for my second whitie / laker rod this winter. I've yet to catch anything big on it, so no comments there. The drag seems to suck on it though, so we'll see. It was a christmass present, so I aint complaining! Good luck Kev..
  14. I use the Garmin Etrex for ice fishing. No nautical maps loaded on it yet. I have a paper nautical map that I use for rough locations.. I also use the Garmin Astro for K9 SAR, and the 60C (discontinued) for Ground SAR. The 60C works great for Ice fishing too. It's been replaced by the 62C. I've neered used the H2O.. It looks like a nice unit though. They never run production on a unit for more then a few years. It's a real pain in the
  15. Should I bring my snowmobile?
  16. That looks like a wicked weekend man. Good on ya!
  17. Sounds good to me. even a $50 a night hotel is good. I didn't think you could get rooms that cheap anymore.
  18. Perch.. To many perch. It was a fun day though. I love the cold, windy stuff. Makes me feel like an eskimo!
  19. They sell Mora 8" and 10" curves blades at the new Princes Auto in Barrie. Edit -- I don't think they had that exact style though..
  20. I been trying my best to keep Feb 5th weekend free. Coming from Barrie, and not sure what to do about accommodations. I'm cheap, so I don't want to stay in a hotel. Thinkin about driving up Friday night, heading home Saturday night, or Sunday morning.. This just might be my chance the try winter camping.. Calendar bay is in the south east corner of the lake right?? The only thing that would stop me from coming is an emergency at work..
  21. I use the smaller version of the folding camping chair. They don't have arm rests. I bought two of the camo one at crappy tire a year ago for $10 each on sale. I use them for duck and sometimes turkey hunting too.
  22. This is true. The old guy is doing good. My wife I are going to head up at noon for a visit, so I might as well hit the ice for the morning.
  23. Thanks for the input gents.. I have my starting spot picked out for Saturday morn.. Probly in the Big Cedar area, then work north. To bad I have to leave the ice early. I have to go visit my grandpa who had a stroke yesterday. Poor old guy
  24. Thanks GB. You gunna be on Simcoe this weekend? If you see a Yamaha Bravo, and a guy with a bright yellow floater, come say hi!
  25. I've been hearing that the whities being caught on Simcoe this year have been jammed full of scuds. I figure if I can find where the scuds are, then I can find some hungry white fish. I did a little research, and it looks like scuds prefer the cover of rocks, or weeds in shallow water. Up to a depth of 35'. That doesn't sound much like the white fish grounds on Simcoe. Does anyone have any insight on Simcoe scuds, and what type of habitat they would prefer specifically on lake Simcoe? Scud = Fresh Water Shrimp...
