That's just stupid.

I learned by swimming with a lifejacket on. I swam with that thing for about 4 days then finally just took it off and started swimming without it. It was more building my confidence in not sinking than actually learning to swim.

What happened to our cat fishing trip? Sheesh!
-
No, they sell Berkley Gulp! Alive leeches.

Get used to being outfished... by handing her a rod you have in turn cursed yourself!

Nice work. Not sure how a mere pike got the jump on a WGSF though.. Rock Bass = "Aqua Chuck Norris"

Sugarpacket and I headed out tonight after work for some local carp fishing. No size here but the numbers make up for it. Always catch a ton of carp on ultra light tackle.

Nice one! My honest estimate would be 15 pounds judging only by the picture, but like you say pictures can be deceiving one way or the other.

Actually no, it was an alcohol free night surprisingly! LOL And his name came from that crazy snowmobile dude they call Sled Ed. This Sleded of course, is nowhere near crazy, and would probably run and cry were he to run across any sort of obstacle while snowmobiling.

Sleded and I had high hopes as we loaded up the Filth Hound for it's first trip of the year this morning. We were headed to Dunnville for walleye. As we drove over the dam however, our hopes drooped as we saw WHITE CAPS and rollers on the grand. That's rare! Never seen it that rough. 30kph east winds will do that though I guess. The wind made it tough enough to troll, and to add on that the fish were lockjawed. Even the catfish wouldn't co-operate. We put our time in and trolled the usual walleye haunts, not even a sheephead to show for our efforts. Finally took some time to anchor out of the wind and cook up some elk burgers. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! Nothing beats BBQ'ing in the boat! After trying to anchor out in the wind near the dam and fish cats we decided we'd had enough of the soaking from the waves coming over the boat and headed to shore. We packed up and hit up the rainham Dairy Freeze for some ice cream. ICE CREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMM We couldn't just give up without a full day on the water though, so we then headed to a spot we like to call Area 57 where we just knew we'd get at least a few catfish. It didn't disappoint, just about non-stop action from start to finish, though mostly bullheads and bluegills. A few surprises were thrown in the mix however with a small carp and a little sheepie hitting Sleded's dew worms. Don't worry "NoWhiteBuckets" these fish were all released. We know how you feel about keeping a healthy sheephead and catfish population. And those endangered carp, forget about it! Great day out, despite the soaking from the rain and waves and the slow fishing. Always a good time with the Filthwich Boyz!

Nice! We were completely skunked today out there, holy wind! You know its bad when there's 2 foot rollers on the grand.

Cats were caught on chunks of sucker meat BTW and hit from 9PM til 1AM. Don't worry, no white buckets will be on the site for a long time under his other screen name. Bold statements from an anonymous conservationist, how brave!

Tran has a fishing license, he just works 80 hrs a week and runs a hotel on the side, he has no time. Fun guy to fish with when he does get a spare moment though. Those cats will last him all year and he was very appreciative. Even said he'd spare some wild turkey meat next time he hunts.

Wow, some real decent prices on that site. Another paycheck bites the dust. -
When I was just a kid (like 5 yrs old) my dad used to take me down there. From what I remember, he caught salmon, browns, bows and the odd walleye. But that was a long time ago and I'm pretty sure he just fished in the fall.

We got into a bunch last night, just an awesome night. Like the old days! Neither of us really keep more than one cat a year. However, these fish weren't kept for us, Sleded had a friend from work who said he'd take whatever we could get him. Guess he was happy to see our haul! After dragging that stringer around with that much weight, we both agreed Mr. Tran can catch his own fish next time. LOL

Walleye, carp, suckers, crappie, bluegill, perch, catfish.. just about anything that swims will hit a worm presented properly.

Rainbows down here were pretty much gone as soon as opener hit.

For bulk quantities, I have one of those 6x3 Rubbermaid totes in the basement, that is about 8 inches deep for my worms. I just use shredded newspaper for bedding and feed them veggie leftovers, eggshells, etc. They breed pretty quick. If you're just talking about storing some, like 4-5 dozen. Use a coffee can, fill it 3/4 full of slightly wet shredded newspaper and put the worms inside. Leave it in your fridge to keep them lively. They will stay alive for months in there.
-
Yeah and if a coffee, sandwich, donut, etc. is returned there unopened, they chuck it in the garbage. Employees will be fired if they take it for themselves. They are a horrible company. I rarely buy anything there unless there's nothing else around.
-
If you're talking about channel cats, now til the end of June is the best time. Get out as soon as you can. If you mean bullheads, they'll pretty much hit steady all year. Now tends to be better though for me.

Dam burst at hatchery kills thousands of fish
Rich replied to danbouck's topic in General Discussion
That really sucks. Used to be a great spot for brookies and bass. Too bad the government takes funding from the MNR so they can't properly upkeep these things. -
I prefer putting the people around me on fish of their lives, rather than catching them myself. I've caught enough big carp and cats to satisfy me in the past anyway. Yup, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Awesome colours on those fish!

Where's the spinnerbaits?
